PURPOSE OF POSITION:

The purpose of the Field Service Safety Technician role is to support Field Service safety, compliance, and operational readiness across assigned locations and job sites. This role is responsible for assisting with site safety inspections, safety documentation review, risk assessments, employee training support, emergency preparedness activities, fleet compliance tracking, and follow-up on corrective actions. This position will partner closely with Field Service leadership, Safety/EHS, Fleet, and site teams to help ensure employees are working in a safe, compliant, and professional manner while supporting the ongoing needs of the Field Service organization.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Conduct routine safety inspections at assigned Field Service locations, offices, and job sites.

• Identify unsafe conditions, potential hazards, policy concerns, or areas requiring corrective action.

• Verify that employees, contractors, and site personnel are following applicable safety requirements, site rules, and company procedures.

• Review safety documentation, including job hazard analyses, permits, work plans, safety checklists, and related field documentation.

• Assist with confirming that required safety procedures, manuals, forms, and site-specific requirements are available, current, and being followed.

• Perform routine risk assessments and recommend corrective actions to eliminate or reduce identified risks.

• Track safety findings, follow-up items, and corrective actions to help ensure timely completion and documentation.

• Support employee safety training efforts, including training coordination, documentation, and communication of safety expectations.

• Assist with training related to general safety awareness, hazard recognition, emergency response, first aid/CPR, lockout/tagout, and other required safety topics.

• Inspect safety equipment, personal protective equipment, emergency response equipment, and other required safety resources to confirm they are available, serviceable, and properly maintained.

• Support emergency preparedness activities, including drills, response procedures, communication plans, and employee awareness.

• Prepare and maintain safety inspection reports, audit summaries, training records, corrective action documentation, and related compliance files.

• Partner with Safety/EHS and Field Service leadership to support ongoing safety initiatives and continuous improvement efforts.

• Assist with evaluating new tools, equipment, processes, or field practices to determine whether additional safety review, training, or controls are needed before use.

• Provide administrative support for Field Service fleet vehicles, including tracking maintenance, inspections, registrations, insurance documentation, driver information, and related compliance records.

• Support fleet management systems and reporting, including vehicle usage, inspections, maintenance status, hours of service, speed, violations, and other company policy concerns.

• Conduct routine inspections of fleet vehicles to help ensure vehicles are maintained in a safe, clean, serviceable, and professional condition.

• Perform other duties as assigned by management.

COMPETENCIES:

• Safety Awareness: Demonstrates a strong understanding of company, customer site, and industry safety requirements, including proper use of PPE, safe work practices, hazard recognition, and site-specific safety expectations.

• Regulatory and Compliance Knowledge: Applies applicable safety policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements to support safe field operations, compliance tracking, inspections, and corrective action follow-up.

• Risk Assessment: Identifies potential hazards, unsafe conditions, and areas of risk, and recommends practical corrective actions to eliminate or reduce safety concerns.

• Attention to Detail: Accurately reviews safety documentation, inspection records, training records, checklists, fleet records, and corrective action items to support compliance and reduce errors.

• Communication: Communicates clearly and professionally with employees, Field Service leadership, Safety/EHS, Fleet, contractors, and internal support teams while providing updates, asking questions, and escalating concerns when needed.

• Training and Coaching Support: Supports employee safety awareness by assisting with training coordination, documentation, communication of safety expectations, and reinforcement of required safe work practices.

• Problem-Solving: Uses sound judgment to assess safety or fleet-related concerns, gather relevant information, identify potential solutions, and escalate issues appropriately.

• Teamwork and Collaboration: Works effectively with Field Service teams, Safety/EHS, Fleet, site personnel, and other internal departments to support safe, compliant, and professional field operations.

• Organization and Follow-Up: Manages multiple priorities, maintains accurate records, tracks open items, and follows up on inspections, corrective actions, fleet requirements, and compliance deadlines.

• Professionalism: Maintains a professional, objective, and solutions-focused approach when interacting with employees, managers, contractors, and site representatives.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

• Associate degree, technical certification, or equivalent combination of education and relevant work experience preferred.

• Two to four years of experience in safety, field operations, fleet support, compliance, industrial operations, construction, manufacturing, or a related environment preferred.

• OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification preferred.

• First Aid/CPR certification preferred or ability to obtain.

• Experience reviewing safety documentation, conducting inspections, supporting training, or tracking corrective actions preferred.

• Experience with fleet management systems, vehicle compliance tracking, or maintenance coordination preferred.

• Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills required. • Strong teamwork and communication skills required.

• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision after appropriate training.

• Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities required.

PHYSICAL/MENTAL/ENVIRONMENTAL:

Physical Demands: Activities: Sitting – 40% Walking/Standing – 60% Lifting: Must be able to bend, lift, and carry equipment and materials up to 50lbs.

Vision: Vision: Long periods of close work on a computer screen and ability to inspect work areas, equipment, vehicles, and documentation.

Travel: Occasional travel (up to 50%) may be required to IEM regional field offices and vendor sites.

Mental Demands: safety concerns, prioritize follow-up actions, communicate findings clearly, and maintain accurate records.

Environment: Work may be performed in climate-controlled office space, nonclimate-controlled operational areas, field environments, job sites, warehouses, and outdoor locations. The position may require walking job sites, inspecting vehicles or work areas, and working in varying weather or site conditions.
