Keller Executive Search is partnering with a respected scientific media organization to recruit a Head of Content, Scientific Media. This is a fully remote senior leadership role for an experienced content or editorial executive with a strong background in science journalism, research-led publishing, specialist media, or public-interest digital content.
Our client is seeking a strategic and hands-on content leader who can shape editorial direction, lead a high-performing team, and ensure complex scientific topics are presented with clarity, accuracy, and authority. The successful candidate will oversee content across digital publishing, newsletters, long-form features, multimedia, and special editorial projects.
Key requirements
- Lead the organization’s content strategy across science, research, emerging technology, climate, health, and related subject areas.
- Oversee editors, writers, freelancers, contributors, and content producers.
- Develop editorial calendars, commissioning priorities, and cross-platform content plans.
- Partner with audience, product, and marketing teams to grow readership, engagement, and loyalty.
- Ensure all content meets high standards for accuracy, credibility, accessibility, and editorial integrity.
- Identify new content opportunities, formats, expert contributors, and strategic partnerships.
- Use audience insights and performance data to strengthen editorial decision-making.
Requirements
- Senior editorial, content, or publishing leadership experience.
- Background in scientific media, specialist publishing, research communications, academic publishing, science journalism, or technical content.
- Strong people leadership skills with experience managing distributed teams.
- Excellent editorial judgment and ability to translate complex topics for informed general audiences.
- Comfort working in a remote-first environment.
- Ability to balance editorial quality with audience growth and digital performance.
