Posted about 9 hours ago
Coder is building its People function to match the scale and rigor of our product, and that means getting our compensation, benefits, and rewards programs right. This is an execution-focused role for someone who is organized, employee experience-focused, and comfortable working across systems and vendors to keep programs running smoothly.
You’ll report to the HR Manager and work closely with Finance, People Ops, and external partners. You won’t be building the comp philosophy from scratch; you’ll be the person who ensures it runs well and that employees actually understand and use what we offer.
As Coder scales toward 200+ employees and expands internationally, this role is expected to grow with us.
What you’ll do here
Administer and maintain Coder’s Pave account: keep employee data current, manage benchmarking pulls, and ensure data integrity across the platform
Support the HR Manager in running comp review cycles, including merit, promotions, and offer benchmarking
Assist with job leveling and salary band maintenance as the company grows
Prepare compensation reports and summaries for People and Finance leadership
Ensure comp data accuracy in Rippling and flag discrepancies
Own benefits enrollment operations such as open enrollment, new hire enrollment, qualifying life events, and terminations
Serve as the first point of contact for employee benefits questions, troubleshooting issues with carriers and vendors
Manage relationships with benefits broker and carriers on day-to-day operational matters
Coordinate international benefits administration in partnership with our EOR platforms (Deel, Rippling Global, etc.)
Maintain benefits documentation, plan summaries, and employee-facing resources
Support ACA tracking and compliance in coordination with Finance and Legal
Be the go-to resource for employees navigating comp, benefits, equity, and bonus questions
Create and maintain clear, accessible documentation, FAQs, guides, and onboarding materials so employees can self-serve
Support the communication of annual comp and benefits changes to employees and managers
Assist with equity education materials, helping employees understand vesting schedules, exercise windows, and grant details
Manage leave administration and workers' compensation
Manage employee-facing 401(k) administration, enrollment, contribution changes, and common questions
Coordinate with the record-keeper on operational matters and escalate compliance items to Finance and Legal
Support semi-annual bonus cycle administration, tracking eligibility, coordinating with the Accounting team on payout calculations, and communicating with employees
Help maintain documentation for variable comp plans and keep employee records current
Support recognition program administration and employee milestone tracking
What we’re looking for
2-4 years of experience in HR, total rewards, benefits administration, or a related people operations role
Hands-on experience with benefits enrollment platforms and carrier administration
Familiarity with compensation benchmarking tools, Pave experience is a strong plus
Strong attention to detail and comfort managing multiple deadlines and vendor relationships simultaneously
Employee-first communication style, you can translate complex comp and benefits concepts into plain language
Experience with Rippling or a comparable HRIS platform
Comfortable working remotely and cross-functionally in a fast-moving, globally distributed environment
High degree of discretion when handling sensitive employee compensation data
Bonus tacos if you have
(Tacos? If you need an ice-breaker, ask how we say thanks by giving tacos!)
Experience supporting a globally distributed workforce with EOR platforms
Exposure to equity plan administration (Pave, Carta, or similar)
Background in a startup or high-growth tech environment
PHR, SHRM-CP, or benefits/comp certification in progress or completed

Interview process
We believe that the interview process should be transparent, consistent, and enjoyable. We value your time and hope to complete the interview process in two to four weeks, if schedules allow. Through your interviews, you will meet a mix of individual contributors, managers, and senior leaders.
AI use during the interview process
As an AI company, Coder embraces the use of AI tools, and we want to be transparent about our expectations as you navigate our interview process.
Not permitted: Using AI assistance during conversational interviews.
Permitted: Using AI tooling for take-home assessments. Please flag where and to what extent it was used in your take-home. Your submission will not be penalized for using AI as long as it is done honestly.
Our use of AI in hiring
We use AI tools to help manage our recruitment process efficiently and fairly. Specifically:
Ashby helps us review inbound applications by surfacing candidates who best match the role requirements we've defined. This tool does not make hiring decisions - it helps our team prioritize which applications to review first.
Granola takes notes during our interview calls so our team can focus on the conversation with you.
All hiring decisions are made by humans. Our team reviews applications, conducts interviews, and makes final selections. AI tools assist us but never replace human judgment, and these practices are conducted in compliance with applicable data protection, AI governance, and labor laws. Your data is not used to train AI models.
In accordance with New York City Local Law 144, an independent bias audit has been conducted on "Automated Employment Decision Tools"; results are available for Ashby.
If you're applying for a role at Coder and have questions about how we use AI in our process, or if you'd like to request information about the data we collect, please contact [email protected].
