We are excited to welcome a passionate and experienced Occupational Therapist to our team at our new partner senior living community in Wiscasset, Maine.
About the Role
As an Occupational Therapist at Engage, you’ll provide individualized, evidence-based care that helps older adults maximize independence, safety, and participation in meaningful daily activities. You’ll work with a diverse geriatric population across independent living, assisted living, dementia, and memory care settings while building meaningful relationships with patients and collaborating closely with the broader Engage team.
Your day-to-day:
- Conduct comprehensive evaluations to assess functional abilities, activities of daily living (ADLs), cognitive performance, safety awareness, and mobility needs.
- Develop and implement individualized treatment plans focused on improving independence, functional mobility, self-care, and overall quality of life.
- Provide hands-on interventions including ADL retraining, therapeutic activities, cognitive rehabilitation, balance and coordination training, and adaptive equipment recommendations.
- Assess environmental and safety risks while implementing fall prevention strategies and functional modifications that support safe daily living.
- Provide care across one or more assisted living communities while maintaining strong communication with residents, families, and interdisciplinary care teams.
- Educate residents and caregivers on adaptive strategies, home programs, energy conservation techniques, and equipment recommendations that support independence and safety.
- Maintain timely, accurate documentation and monitor patient progress using EMR systems in compliance with state and facility standards.
- Collaborate with physical therapists, speech therapists, nursing staff, and support teams to deliver coordinated, patient-centered care.
- Participate in ongoing professional development through mentorship, continuing education, workshops, and clinical training opportunities.
- Build meaningful relationships with residents, families, community staff, and colleagues to support exceptional patient outcomes.

What You Bring

- Graduate of an ACOTE-accredited Occupational Therapy program
- Active state OT license in good standing (or eligibility for licensure)
- Passion for delivering compassionate, evidence-based patient care to a geriatric population
- Experience or interest in geriatrics, adaptive equipment, and ADL training
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills with a collaborative, team-oriented mindset
- Ability to work independently while staying connected with a supportive clinical team
- Commitment to continuous learning and professional growth
