Maven Clinic is looking for a Senior Director to lead the HRBP function and drive our talent program strategies. This leader will partner closely with executive leadership to shape organizational strategy, strengthen manager effectiveness, and build scalable talent practices that enable higher performance during a period of continued growth. This person will lead a team of highly-skilled HRBPs and serve as HRBP to client groups including the growth team..
The ideal candidate brings deep business partnership experience in fast-paced, high-growth environments, and is equally comfortable operating strategically and driving operational excellence across people programs. This person will bring experience driving AI adoption, utilizing metrics-driven decision-making, and evolving fit-for-purpose solutions to organizational design, talent planning, and learning & development with a focus on business outcomes.
As the Senior Director, HRBP you will focus on the following areas:
Team & Org Leadership
- Lead and develop a team of senior HRBPs; set a high bar for business partnership quality, coach to individual growth, and build team capacity as Maven scales
- Serve as HRBP to our growth team along with senior executive client groups including G&A, providing strategic counsel on organizational design, team effectiveness, and leadership through change
- Lead the approach to sensitive employee relations matters, mitigating risk and ensuring thoughtful, values-aligned decision-making across teams
- Partner with the SVP, People and CFO on workforce planning, ensuring headcount strategy aligns with business priorities, growth plans, and financial targets
- Support executive- and board-level reporting on organizational health, leadership pipeline, and people metrics
Talent Programs
- Design and deliver Maven's highest-priority talent programs — including performance management, talent reviews, and manager development
- Own retention strategy and execute targeted interventions for critical talent segments
- Lead organizational design work, including spans and layers analysis, team restructures, and role clarity initiatives
- Build and evolve L&D programming, with a focus on manager effectiveness, especially as Maven navigates AI transformation across the business
Data, AI & Operational Excellence
- Champion scalable, data-informed, and AI-enabled people practices; use people analytics and workforce insights to inform decisions and measure program impact
- Drive AI adoption within the People function — including deploying AI tools in HR workflows such as performance calibration, engagement analysis, manager coaching and workforce planning
- Enable managers to lead effectively through Maven's AI transformation by building the skills, frameworks, and support structures they need
Cross-Functional Partnership
- Partner closely with People Operations, Recruiting, Employee Experience, Finance, and Legal to ensure clear roles, efficient processes, and consistent employee experience
- Act as a connector across functions — bringing objectivity, empathy, and judgment to complex, cross-cutting people issues
We’re looking for you to bring:
- 10+ years of experience in Human Resources Business Partner, People leadership, or equivalent business operations roles
- 5+ years of people management experience; proven track-record of developing senior talent
- Experience supporting executive leadership teams in high-growth or transformational environments and demonstrated success leading organizational change and scaling teams through rapid growth
- Exceptional relationship-building and influencing skills and ability to establish rapport, quickly build credibility, and engage in executive-level partnerships
- Strong business acumen with the ability to connect people strategy to operational and financial outcomes
- Experience leveraging AI-enabled workflows to drive operational excellence and consistency, and using people analytics and workforce insights to inform strategic decisions
- Excellent communication skills in all forms that exhibit your objectiveness, empathy, patience, and diplomacy
- An entrepreneurial drive, ability to create order from chaos, and willingness to roll up your sleeves to directly solve challenging problems
- Prior healthcare experience is a plus, but not required
The base salary range for this role is $234,000 - $275,000 per year. You will also be entitled to receive equity and benefits. Individual pay decisions are based on a number of factors, including qualifications for the role, experience level, and skillset.
This role is only open to candidates in the NYC-metropolitan area and will require you to be in-office for 3 days each week (Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday). While flexibility will always be core to Maven’s policies, we also believe in the power of in-person connection. Our hybrid work policy was created with both principles in mind.
This role requires active work authorization in the US.
