Patient Assessment: Conduct thorough patient assessments conducted via telehealth visits, including medical history reviews, physical examinations, and diagnostic tests, to evaluate cardiovascular health and identify cardiac conditions.

Diagnosis and Treatment: Formulate differential diagnoses and develop treatment plans for patients with various cardiac issues. Prescribe medications and order diagnostic tests.

Disease Management: Manage chronic cardiovascular conditions remotely, including hypertension, congestive heart failure, arrhythmias, and coronary artery disease. Monitor patient progress and adjust treatment plans as needed to achieve optimal outcomes.

Education and Counseling: Educate patients and their families about cardiovascular diseases, prevention strategies, and lifestyle modifications. Provide counseling on medication management, diet, exercise, and smoking cessation to promote heart health.

Collaboration: Collaborate closely with cardiologists, PCPs and other healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive and coordinated care for patients. Discuss complex cases and participate in multidisciplinary care teams.

Research and Evidence-Based Practice: Stay current with the latest developments in cardiology research and incorporate evidence-based practices into patient care. Participate in research studies or quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient outcomes.

Documentation: Maintain accurate and detailed patient records, including medical histories, assessments, treatment plans, progress notes, and discharge summaries. Ensure compliance with legal and ethical standards.

Patient Advocacy: Serve as an advocate for patients' needs and preferences, ensuring that they receive appropriate care and support throughout their healthcare journey.

Continuing Education: Pursue ongoing education and professional development in the field of cardiology to stay updated on the latest advancements and maintain relevant certifications

Quality Assurance: Participate in quality assurance programs to monitor and improve the quality of cardiology care provided within the healthcare facility.

Availability: Must be able to work Monday through Friday, 9 am to 5 pm EST

A Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) with a specialization in cardiology or a related field.

Licensure Requirement: Must hold an active, current, and unrestricted Nurse Practitioner (NP) license in Rhode Island, Connecticut, or both states.

Obtain and maintain Nurse Practitioner (NP) certification specific to cardiology. Certification from a recognized certifying body, such as the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) or the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners Certification Board (AANPCB), in a relevant Nurse Practitioner specialty (e.g., Adult-Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner or Family Nurse Practitioner with a focus on cardiology).

3+ years of experience working as a nurse practitioner in an outpatient cardiology setting.

Certification in ACLS is often required or highly recommended, as Cardiology Nurse Practitioners may be involved in emergency cardiac care.

Proficiency in performing comprehensive cardiac assessments, interpreting diagnostic tests (e.g., ECGs, echocardiograms), and formulating treatment plans for cardiovascular conditions in an outpatient environment.

Excellent communication skills to effectively educate patients and collaborate with a multidisciplinary healthcare team, including cardiologists and nurses.

Ability to make critical decisions, analyze complex cardiac cases, and adapt treatment plans based on patient responses and changing conditions.

Compassion and empathy when working with patients and their families, especially when delivering challenging diagnoses or managing chronic cardiac conditions.

Meticulous attention to detail in patient assessments, documentation, and treatment plans to ensure accuracy and patient safety.

Commitment to ongoing professional development and the maintenance of relevant certifications.

Familiarity with electronic health records (EHR) systems and other healthcare technologies used in cardiology practice.
