About the Role 

As an Experienced Data Engineer (Level 3), you will lead the design and delivery of enterprise-scale data platforms that power critical business decisions. You act as a technical authority within the team and a trusted advisor to clients, owning complex systems end-to-end while setting engineering standards and mentoring others. 

This role is ideal for experienced data engineers who want real ownership, architectural influence, and the opportunity to shape how modern, cloud-native, and AI-augmented data systems are built and operated. 

Key Responsibilities 

• Design and own scalable, resilient data architectures aligned with business objectives 

• Lead architectural decisions for complex, cross-system data platforms 

• Drive data strategy and technical direction within projects and squads 

• Build and optimize batch, streaming, and real-time data pipelines 

• Design enterprise-grade data models and performant storage layers 

• Ensure systems meet strict SLAs, reliability, and performance targets 

• Implement data governance, lineage, and quality standards at scale 

• Ensure compliance with security, privacy, and regulatory requirements 

• Prevent data incidents through proactive design and monitoring 

• Act as a bridge between engineering teams and business stakeholders 

• Translate business requirements into clear, robust technical solutions 

• Build trusted relationships with client technical and delivery stakeholders 

• Mentor junior and mid-level data engineers 

• Lead architecture reviews and drive technical best practices 

• Contribute to internal knowledge sharing and engineering standards 

• Evaluate and pilot new data and cloud technologies 

• Apply FinOps principles to optimize cloud data workloads 

• Define and promote effective use of AI tools in engineering workflows 

Required Skills & Experience 

• Expert SQL and Python 

• Strong experience with distributed data processing (e.g. Spark) 

• Hands-on experience designing end-to-end data platforms on: Azure (expert), AWS (expert). 

• Experience with modern data tooling (e.g. dbt, Airflow/Dagster, Microsoft Fabric) 

• Strong understanding of data modeling, performance optimization, and reliability engineering 

• 4–7 years of experience in data engineering or platform engineering roles 

• Proven ownership of production data systems with strict SLAs 

• Experience handling incidents and operational responsibility 

• Experience mentoring engineers and leading technical discussions 

• Strong communication skills with both technical and non-technical stakeholders 

• Ability to work independently across multiple workstreams 

• Strong experience using AI tools in daily engineering work 

• Ability to define where AI adds value and where it does not 

• Experience mentoring others on responsible, effective AI usage in engineering 

• Data platforms are stable, scalable, and trusted in production 

• Architectural decisions stand the test of scale and complexity 

• Systems consistently meet performance and reliability targets 

• Engineers you mentor show clear technical growth
