As a Senior Avionics Engineer at ispace U.S., you will be central to the  development and integration of avionics systems that power our satellites and  lunar landers — from navigation and communication to power management and mission-critical autonomy. Your technical expertise and engineering judgment will directly shape flight hardware that must perform flawlessly hundreds of thousands of miles from Earth.

Beyond individual contribution, you will serve as a technical leader and mentor, helping define the avionics architecture that drives ispace's vision of a sustainable lunar economy forward — one mission at a time.

### Key Responsibilities
  • Create avionics component specifications or drawings, such as for circuit boards or wire harnesses, for flight items and ground support equipment as required.
  • Coordinate with component vendors to ensure compliance with technical specifications.
  • Coordinate with systems engineering team to author and manage avionics requirements and verification plans.
  • Work with test engineers to create unit and subsystem level test plans.
  • Troubleshoot and debug subsystem anomalies throughout development, AI&T, and flight operation phases.
  • Support circuit board, wire harness, and GNC sensor integration & verification within Flat Sat Environment and on the flight vehicles.
  • Collaborate with ispace Japan avionics design team to understand the system and component design details of the vehicle in order to troubleshoot issues independently such as local circuit board fabrication.
  • Develop ground support equipment and facility equipment readiness as needed in order to build and test the required space vehicle products.

    ### Basic Qualifications
  • BS in electrical engineering, computer engineering or science with 7+ years of experience in avionics component and/or system design, development and testing
  • Experience with requirements definition, decomposition, and verification/validation
  • Lab and test equipment skills for the debug, characterization, and validation of designs
  • Familiarity with all aspects of avionics systems such as power, communication, digital design, and firmware
  • Qualification and flight acceptance environmental test methods and flow
  • Experience using Atlassian tools such as Jira and Confluence
  • Experience with common avionics industry standards for spacecraft design and integration; including, but not limited to, EEE-INST-002, NASA-HDBK-4001, NASA-STD-4003, SMC-S-010, & SMC-S-016, IPC 620, J-STD-001, IPC 7711/7722
  • ### What Makes You Stand Out!
  • 2+ years experience working with spacecraft avionics systems
  • Familiarity with schematic capture and layout tools such as Altium
  • Experience with spacecraft sensors such as IMUs, star trackers, sun sensors, etc
  • Basic knowledge of communication system components such as SDRs, RF PAs, RF switches, etc
  • Familiarity with git and git workflows for version control
  • Experience with FPGA programming
