Our Services

  • AI Strategy & Governance
  • AI Literacy & Enablement
  • AI Build & Assurance
  • AI & Data Security

Overview

This role is a contractor resource augment embedded within our customer, where V2 currently provides cloud architecture and engineering support. The contractor will operate as the effective cloud authority on the account — filling the function of the customers internal cloud architect while working under V2's engagement model.

Responsibilities

  • Platform ownership & oversight — Act as the primary cloud authority for the customer's Azure environment, guiding architecture decisions and overseeing the health of the platform.
  • MSP coordination & arbitration — Manage relationships and technical escalations across their managed service providers. Where vendors point fingers at each other, this role is expected to diagnose, arbitrate, and drive resolution.
  • Network troubleshooting & translation — Investigate and resolve cloud networking issues across a heterogeneous, inconsistently-patterned estate. Translate between on-premises networking concepts and cloud equivalents for their internal teams and MSPs.
  • Engineering delivery — Hands-on involvement in platform tasks (Azure console, CLI, VM configuration) where MSPs are slow, under-skilled, or not on the hook. Approximately 20% of effort is expected to fall into this category.
  • Stakeholder advisory — Guide internal stakeholders and project teams on cloud architecture matters, security implications, and vendor accountability.
  • Knowledge transfer — Build documented understanding of the environment to support continuity and eventual handover. Contribute to bringing their cloud practice closer to modern standards over time.
  • Cost awareness — Basic FinOps awareness desirable; ability to identify optimisation opportunities even if formal cost governance programs are not yet in place.

Required Skills & Experience

  • Azure (primary) — Strong, hands-on Azure experience is non-negotiable. This should be someone with Azure as their primary cloud platform, not someone learning it on the job.
  • Cloud networking — Solid understanding of Azure networking (VNets, NSGs, peering, routing, DNS, firewalls) and the ability to bridge that with on-premises networking concepts.
  • Infrastructure background — Experience in traditional infrastructure (sysadmin, on-prem networking, Windows/Linux environments). A developer-only background is unlikely to be a good fit.
  • Communication & stakeholder management — Strong verbal and written communication skills. The role involves a lot of translation — technical to non-technical, vendor to vendor, and MSP to client.
