Geotab is seeking an Embedded Development Manager who will lead a team of firmware and software developers responsible for the design and development of IOX products and the IOX platform within the Geotab ecosystem. What you'll do:
As an Embedded Development Manager, your key area of responsibility will be setting the strategy and vision for the IOX group while overseeing product development from design through delivery. You will need to work closely with the VP of Embedded Development and senior department leaders across the organization.
To be successful in this role you will be a strong leader with excellent coaching and communication skills, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, agile environment. In addition, the successful candidate will have proven experience managing embedded software teams and delivering complex firmware/hardware products on schedule.
How you'll make an impact:
- Determine the strategy and vision for the IOX group in conjunction with the VP and senior leaders.
- Lead the design and development of all new IOX products and the IOX platform for use within the Geotab ecosystem.
- Manage, measure, and implement an Agile development process across all teams within the group.
- Coach, mentor, and develop direct reports through performance management, feedback, and career development planning.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to remove roadblocks and ensure work progresses on schedule.
- Oversee staffing needs and work with the VP on resource planning and forecasting for net new hires.
- Participate in cross-functional meetings and support Geotab global strategic initiatives.
What you'll bring to the role:
- 8+ years of experience in embedded software design and development.
- 2+ years of experience managing and developing teams.
- Strong leadership, coaching, and interpersonal relationship-building skills.
- Experience with agile methods of project management.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work well under pressure and respond to fast-changing priorities and deadlines.
- Post-secondary degree/diploma in Electronics, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, or a related field.

The annual base salary for this position is the expected annual salary for this role, and may be subject to change. Geotab offers various perks and benefits and other compensation components that an individual may be eligible for. The actual base salary for this position depends on a variety of factors such as but not limited to skills, qualifications, education and overall experience, including the location the applicant lives while performing the job. This also includes equity with other team members and alignment with local market data.
