
Senior Interior Designer – Grand Rapids, MI
DISHER is partnering with a small, commercial interior design firm that also procures and resells furniture to find a Senior Interior Designer to join their growing team. This experienced designer will own projects from concept through construction, leading client-facing design efforts and helping shape the future of this practice with close ties to a sister architecture firm. In this role, you’ll be a thought leader on interior projects, bringing structure, creativity, and executional excellence to a fast-paced environment.What it's like to work here:

Lead interior design projects from concept through construction, including programming, space planning, and development of conceptual ideas for commercial environments.

Create and refine design narratives that connect brand, user experience, and function, and present those stories professionally to clients and stakeholders.

Develop and manage project workflows and timelines, coordinating your own work across multiple concurrent projects in a fast-paced setting.

Produce detailed design documentation in Revit, and support visualization through renderings and other tools as needed.

Collaborate closely with architects, engineers, contractors, and furniture dealers to ensure design intent is carried through construction.

Engage across a variety of commercial project types, with a focus on education and healthcare and an expanding footprint in retail, hospitality, and related markets.

Contribute to furniture planning and coordination, including working with dealers and supporting the firm’s growing procurement capabilities.

Bachelor’s degree in Interior Design, Architecture, or a related field from an accredited institution; NCIDQ certification and related credentials are strongly preferred.

Approximately 10+ years of professional experience, ideally 12–15 years overall with at least 4–5 recent years leading commercial interior projects from concept through construction.

Significant experience within an architecture or commercial interior design firm, with a portfolio that includes institutional work in education and/or healthcare.

Strong proficiency in Revit, with additional experience in tools such as Enscape, Adobe Creative Suite, SketchUp, Bluebeam, and CET considered a plus.

Demonstrated experience working with furniture dealers and planning furniture layouts, finishes, and specifications in commercial settings.

Proven ability to manage your own time and workload in a high‑volume, flexible environment without heavy supervision.
