Associate, Brand Communications, CPG Snack Brand
Weber Shandwick has an exciting opportunity for an Associate, Brand Communication to join our team. We are looking for a proactive, problem-solving, and collaboration-minded person with a passion for the food and beverage industry. The ideal candidate will have experience in garnering earned media attention for consumer brands, a knack for storytelling and a keen eye for trends.
This role will be instrumental in driving brand awareness and consumer engagement through strategic communications. You will be a key day-to-day contact for our client, and will be expected to show initiative and a forward-thinking mindset to help our client win in a competitive marketplace.
Job description:
Fundamentally, we’re looking for a storyteller and a trendspotter – someone who has the instincts and ability to tell a compelling brand story and in doing so considers:
- What makes a story newsworthy and engaging for consumers and the media?
- What media assets (visuals, samples, etc.) will best bring our brand story to life?
- What third-party experts or influencers can strengthen our narrative?
- What are our competitors doing and how can our story stand out?
- Why would consumers care about our brand and our products?
- Which media, influencers, and platforms should we target and why?
- How can we use data to inform our strategies and measure our success?
Those skills will be the foundation for all of the other requirements, including:
- Media and Influencer Relations:
- Track and monitor the media landscape and consumer trends to spot opportunities for proactive storytelling.
- Identify, build, and maintain relationships with key media, influencers, and content creators in the CPG, food, and lifestyle sectors.
- Develop targeted media lists and pitch creative, compelling stories to secure coverage.
- Content Creation and Storytelling:
- Draft and edit compelling press releases, media pitches, key messages, and other press materials that are aligned with the brand’s voice.
- Collaborate with creative teams on the development of media assets, including photos, videos, and influencer kits.
- Client Service and Project Management:
- Serve as a reliable and proactive day-to-day contact for the client.
- Develop and manage project timelines and action plans to ensure all deadlines are met.
- Support the planning and execution of PR events, such as product launches and brand activations.
- Strategy and Initiative:
- Proactively offer insights and recommendations to the team and client based on industry trends, competitor activity, and media shifts.
- Contribute to creative brainstorming sessions and provide thoughtful recommendations for new campaigns and tactics.
- Support the team in developing and executing integrated communication plans.

Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree
- 1-2 years related professional experience in public relations, communications, or a related field (agency or in-house).
- Experience working with CPG or food and beverage brands is a plus
Salary Range: $52,000 USD – $55,000 USD
Where an employee or prospective employee is paid within this range will depend on, among other factors, actual ranges for current/former employees in the subject position; market considerations; budgetary considerations; tenure and standing with the company (applicable to current employees); as well as the employee’s/applicant’s background, pertinent experience, and qualifications.
