Branch Manager | Hobart | Metroll & United Steel Tasmania
An exciting opportunity exists to lead the Hobart branch, overseeing operations across Metroll’s roll forming business and United Steel Tasmania’s steel, reinforcing and accessories offering.
This is a senior leadership role with full responsibility for the performance of a multi-functional branch, spanning sales, manufacturing, customer service and administration. You will take stewardship of the business, developing and executing strategic, operational and tactical plans to deliver sustainable growth and profitability.
- With a strong focus on financial performance, you will be accountable for achieving revenue, margin, pricing and volume targets while maintaining disciplined cost control across manufacturing, distribution and sales. You will manage budgets, monitor performance against KPIs and leverage reporting and data insights to drive informed decision-making and continuous improvement.
- You will lead and develop a sales team to deliver strong commercial outcomes, while maintaining a hands-on approach to key customer relationships. Building and retaining strong partnerships with major clients will be critical, alongside embedding a “can-do” customer service culture and ensuring service metrics such as DIFOT are consistently achieved.
- Operationally, you will oversee manufacturing and distribution activities to ensure high-quality product delivery, efficient processes and safe systems of work. You will also take ownership of credit performance, including DSO and cash flow targets, and work to minimise financial risk through effective management of expenses and receivables.
- People leadership is central to success in this role. You will set clear expectations, monitor performance and coach team members to achieve high standards. You will foster a high-performance culture by recognising strong contributions, addressing underperformance decisively and ensuring all employees have development and performance plans in place.
- Safety is a non-negotiable priority. You will lead a strong safety culture across the branch, ensuring full compliance with OH&S policies and legislation, with a clear focus on achieving zero harm and continuous improvement in safety performance.
- You will model integrity and company values at all times, ensuring the branch operates in line with policies, procedures and governance requirements, while continuously identifying opportunities to improve business performance across all areas.
- This is a hands-on leadership role suited to a commercially driven manager who can balance strategic thinking with day-to-day operational execution.
