YOUR IMPACT

As a German Policy Specialist, you will be instrumental in shaping and influencing fusion energy policy within Germany, ensuring alignment with broader European and global policy frameworks.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

  • Policy Engagement

    • Engage proactively with German industry and advocacy associations, federal and state policymakers, regulators, and governmental bodies to promote fusion energy policy initiatives.

    • Develop and advance advocacy efforts to create a supportive policy environment for fusion technology development and deployment in Germany.

    • Monitor relevant advocacy initiatives, legislative and regulatory developments at the federal level and assess their implications for Proxima's strategy.

    Policy Development

    • Develop policy proposals, position papers, and public funding applications targeted toward German and European institutions.

    • Prepare briefings, background materials, and stakeholder communications in coordination with internal teams.

    • Represent Proxima in policy-related forums, industry associations, and governmental meetings at the federal level.

    Stakeholder Relations

    • Build and maintain relationships with key federal stakeholders including public institutions, research organizations, ministries, and industry partners.

    • Map and maintain a structured overview of federal stakeholders relevant to Proxima's policy and funding activities.

    • Act as a point of contact for policy stakeholders engaging with Proxima at the national level.

    Cross-Team Collaboration

    • Work closely with technical, operations, and communications teams to align policy engagement with company priorities.

    • Support the organization of policy meetings, stakeholder events, and parliamentary engagements.

    • Capture policy insights and ensure relevant feedback informs internal strategy.

WHO YOU ARE

  • 2 to 5 years of professional experience in public affairs, government relations, policy development, or a related field.

  • Strong political network at the federal level in Germany, ideally spanning multiple ministries or parliamentary groups.

  • Experience engaging with public institutions, research organizations, or energy and technology policy stakeholders.

  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills across government, industry, and scientific communities.

  • Fluency in German and English.

Nice to have:

  • Familiarity with German fusion, energy, or deep-tech policy landscapes, including BMFTR, BMWE, or comparable federal structures.

  • Experience developing public funding applications or policy position papers for federal or EU institutions.

  • Experience coordinating multi-stakeholder initiatives or public-private partnerships in the energy or technology sector.

  • A degree in Political Science, Public Policy, Economics, or a STEM-related field. A Master's degree is preferred.
