Role Summary
Petra Brands is seeking a high-caliber Direct Response VSL Editor specialized in crafting video sales letters that convert. We aren't looking for someone to simply "assemble footage"; we need a visual storyteller who understands the mechanics of persuasion, retention, and consumer psychology.
The ideal candidate knows that a VSL is a high-stakes sales asset. You will be responsible for transforming scripts, raw footage, product demos, and testimonials into polished, high-retention videos that drive measurable action. You should have a proven track record of editing long-form sales funnels, advertorial-style videos, or high-converting video ads where every second is engineered to earn the viewer's attention.
Core Responsibilities
- End-to-End VSL Production: Edit compelling VSLs and video sales assets using scripts, voiceovers, UGC, stock footage, and AI-generated visuals.
- Engineered Engagement: Apply visual pattern interrupts, emotional tension, and strategic pacing to maintain high retention rates throughout the sales journey.
- Conversion Focus: Integrate visual proof, product demonstrations, and dynamic captioning to reinforce the sales message and build credibility.
- Iterative Optimization: Create multiple versions of hooks, intros, and CTAs for A/B testing; adapt edits based on performance data and media buyer feedback.
- Collateral Asset Creation: Produce VSL cutdowns, landing page videos, and testimonial compilations to support the broader performance marketing funnel.
Candidate Requirements
Must-Haves:
- Direct Response Expertise: Proven experience editing long-form VSLs or performance-driven video funnels. You understand the flow of a sales message (Hook → Agitation → Solution → Proof → Offer → CTA).
- Exceptional Editorial Judgment: The ability to explain why a certain cut, b-roll selection, or music choice was made to drive a specific emotional or behavioral response.
- Retention Mastery: Sophisticated skills in pacing and visual variety to ensure viewers don't "drop off" during long-form content.
- Portfolio of Proof: A robust portfolio featuring actual VSLs or sales videos (please include context on the brand, funnel type, and performance results where possible).
Strongly Preferred:
- Background in health, wellness, beauty, pet care, or lifestyle categories.
- Strong skills in motion graphics, dynamic subtitling, and AI-assisted editing tools.
- You are motivated by results and comfortable working within a base + performance bonus compensation structure.
