This a New York City based position with four days a week in office required.
Aimé Leon Dore is seeking an Assistant Controller to support the accounting function and play a key role in strengthening financial operations as the company continues to scale. This role will report into the Controller.
This position is ideal for someone with a strong accounting foundation who is ready to step into broader responsibility, drive process improvements, and operate with a high level of ownership in a fast-paced, growing business.
Core Responsibilities
Accounting & Close Ownership
- Support and progressively take ownership of the monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes
- Ensure accuracy and timeliness of financial reporting across multiple entities
- Prepare and review journal entries, account reconciliations, and supporting schedules
Financial Reporting & Compliance
- Assist in the preparation of financial statements in accordance with GAAP
- Support audit processes, including preparation of schedules and coordination with external auditors
- Assist in the preparation, monitoring, and analysis of cash flow reporting and forecasts to support business operations
- Ensure adherence to internal controls and accounting policies
Process Improvement & Scalability
- Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes, reporting accuracy, and efficiency
- Help implement systems and workflows that support a growing, multi-entity business
- Strengthen documentation and standardization across accounting functions
Cross-Functional Partnership
- Partner with Finance, Operations, and other teams to ensure accurate financial inputs and reporting
- Support budgeting and forecasting processes in collaboration with leadership
- Provide visibility into financial performance and key metrics
Team & Leadership Development
- Support and mentor junior accounting staff where applicable
- Take on increasing leadership responsibility within the accounting function over time
Qualifications
- 5–8+ years of accounting experience, ideally within retail, consumer, or multi-entity environments
- Strong understanding of GAAP and financial reporting
- Experience supporting or leading month-end close processes
- Exposure to audit processes and internal controls
- High attention to detail with strong organizational and problem-solving skills
- Ability to operate independently and take ownership of workstreams
- CPA preferred
