Position Title: Server/Housekeeper

Reports to: Manager of Pacifica Seniors Lodge

Compensation: $23.29-$25.04 per hour

Union: BCGEU

Status: Causal - As per Pacifica Housing's on call policy.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Ensure routine cleaning duties are performed in a timely and confident manner.

2. Housekeeping/Cleaning duties:

  • Cleaning of assigned rooms according to our standards;
  • Make beds and launder linens;
  • Wipe kitchen cupboards and drawers;
  • Removal of garbage and recyclables;
  • Clean and disinfect bathroom and fixtures;
  • Maintaining cordial and cooperative relationships with Supportive Housing staff and with the tenants of Pacifica Housing.
  • Perform heavy cleaning duties, such as cleaning floors (sweep and mop), light dusting of furniture and removing rubbish;
  • Clean windows, glass partitions, and mirrors, using soapy water or other cleaners, and sponges;
  • Laundry rooms, tidy and wipe down washer and dryer;
  • Keep units in clean and orderly condition;
  • Cleaning units upon turnover and according to the Society’s specifications; and

3. Server duties:

  • Prepare dining room;
  • Serve residents;
  • Be able to answer any questions residents may have about the food;
  • Ensure all residents dietary restrictions and allergies are met; and
  • Clean up dining room, tables and wash dishes.

4. Completing other related job duties as assigned.

Requirements

Qualifications

Experience:

  • Customer-oriented approach and patience.
  • Demonstrated experience in the food and serving industry.
  • Exceptional customer-service skills and effective in both verbal and written communication.
  • Proven ability to work under pressure during periods of high volume.

Education:

  • High school graduation or GED Equivalent

Additional Criteria for Role:

  • First Aid Certification is required.
  • Food Safe Certification is required.
  • MUST be available for on call shifts, holiday coverage, sick days, stats etc.

As Pacifica Housing works with vulnerable populations, We require all staff to successfully clear a Vulnerable Sectors Criminal Record Check run by the Ministry of Justice. Any offer of employment is contingent on the applicant providing proof of criminal record check prior to commencing employment.

Please note: While this position is posted externally concurrently, members within the collective bargaining unit will receive first consideration in the appointment.
