We are looking for a hands on Field Team Technician to join our team and take on a vital role in one of the core functions of ikeja’s business. Key Responsibilities
As a Field Team Technician, you will be responsible for the hands-on installation, maintenance and troubleshooting of ikeja's network infrastructure across Cape Town. You will work directly with customers and alongside your team to ensure high-quality connectivity and a professional service experience.
Installation & Deployment
- Prepare, mount and install network equipment at customer premises in line with ikeja's quality standards.
- Perform equipment alignment and conduct post-installation quality checks, including speed tests and signal reporting.
- Educate customers on their connectivity setup and how to manage their accounts.
- Ensure all installation tickets are completed accurately and closed out in a timely manner.
Maintenance & Troubleshooting
- Carry out general maintenance tasks across sites in Cape Town, including equipment replacements, relocations, troubleshooting, upgrades and realignments.
- Follow all standard operating procedures and safety protocols during site work.
- Ensure all allocated tasks are completed to standard and properly closed out.
Customer Engagement
- Serve as a professional and friendly representative of ikeja during all customer interactions.
- Provide clear guidance to customers and address queries with a solutions-oriented approach.
- Use diagnostic tools to identify and resolve connectivity issues.
Driving
NB: A valid South African driver's license held for a minimum of one year is a strict requirement for this role.
- Track fuel usage and maintain company vehicle if assigned.
- Assist with inspections, servicing or vehicle pick-ups.
- Act as designated driver when operationally required.
Requirements
- Matric or Grade 12 (advantageous).
- 1 - 2 years' experience in telecommunications, field operations or a similar technical support role would be favorable (e.g. DSTV installations, Wi-Fi installations).
- Excellent communication and troubleshooting skills.
- Comfortable working at heights and with tools/equipment.
- Strong task completion and time management abilities.
- Valid driver’s license (held for a minimum of 1 year).
- Bonus: you live in or are familiar with all the areas we serve.
