Enrolled Nurse Auxiliary/Assistant - Theatre

Enrolled Nurse Auxiliary will be responsible for direct and/or in direct nursing care of a patient or group of patients and will function under the direct and/ or indirect supervision of the Registered Nurse.
The team member will perform nursing duties in accordance with the South African Nursing Council (SANC), Department of Health (DOH) and National Core standards
Further Role Breakdown :
- Practice patient care according to his/her Scope of Practice and assumes total responsibility for these activities.
- Contributes to the holistic care of patients.
- Maintain the principals of aseptic technique when opening packs and consumables.
- To help control patient and hospital costs through the correct, safe and economical use of supplies and equipment.
- Handle equipment, instruments, stock and medication safely and competently.
- Effective risk prevention and management when assisting with the positioning of the patient or transfer of the patient to and from the operating table
- Effective communication with patients regarding their care.
- To assist the anaesthetist during induction of anaesthesia
- Promotes and maintains good public relations with patients, relatives and visitors.
- Ensure proper evidence-based nursing care.
- Communicate with Health Care Practitioners regarding any change in health status.
- Compliance with documentation policy.
- Record and sign specimen registers
- Ongoing audit of health records to ensure compliance.
- Ensure all stock is well controlled and managed appropriately.
- Maintains a therapeutic, clean and safe environment that is free from medico-legal hazards.
- Maintains a safe working environment in accordance with the Machinery and Occupational Safety Act.
- To take responsibility for own nursing actions and professional conduct.
- Assumes responsibility for own personal and professional development.
- Assumes responsibility for maintaining competence in CPR/BLS.
- Projects a positive professional image.
- Promotes and maintains good working and interpersonal relationships with management, colleagues and doctors.
- Practices patient care according to his/her Scope of Practice and assumes total responsibility for these activities
