The Academic Lead is a key instructional leadership role responsible for strengthening educator performance, improving classroom culture, and elevating the overall student learning experience. This position serves as the day-to-day academic leader on campus, partnering closely with the Campus Director to ensure consistency, accountability, and excellence in education delivery.
The Academic Lead is not a director, but a hands-on leader who coaches educators, supports curriculum execution, monitors student engagement, and helps translate academic expectations into daily practice. This role plays a critical part in improving attendance, retention, licensure readiness, and student satisfaction.
Requirements
Educator Development & Coaching
- Conduct regular classroom observations and provide timely, actionable feedback
- Coach educators on classroom management, student engagement, lesson pacing, and instructional effectiveness
- Support new educator onboarding, training, and early-stage development
- Assist the Campus Director with educator performance assessments, force rankings, and development plans
- Reinforce academic standards, professionalism, and consistency across all programs and shifts
Classroom Culture & Student Experience
- Establish and maintain a positive, structured, and engaging classroom environment
- Support educators in addressing student behavior, motivation, and engagement challenges
- Partner with educators to improve daily attendance and retention.
- Serve as a visible academic presence for students
Curriculum & Academic Execution
- Ensure curriculum is delivered accurately and consistently
- Support lesson planning and theory/practical integration
- Monitor student academic progress and skill development
- Assist with licensure readiness and evaluations
Collaboration & Compliance
- Partner with the Campus Director on academic initiatives
- Collaborate with Campus Director on SSA duties
- Support compliance with state, accreditation, and institutional standards
- Escalate academic risks and concerns promptly
Project Support
- Contribute to special projects as needed
Qualifications
Must Have:
- Active program-appropriate license
- Prior educator experience
- Strong coaching and communication skills
Preferred:
- Leadership or mentoring experience
- Knowledge of accreditation standards
- Data-informed decision-making ability
