OfficeOslo, Oslo, Norway

At Newcode.ai, we're transforming how law firms and legal professionals harness AI for real-world impact. As part of our collaborative, high-growth team, you'll have the rare opportunity to work side-by-side with visionary founders at the bleeding edge of AI and legal innovation — shaping not just our product, but the future of legal work itself.

If you thrive in dynamic settings, love solving complex problems, and want to be immersed in the world of AI and fast pace, Newcode.ai is the place for you.

As a Legal Summer Intern, you will work at the intersection of law and technology. Your primary focus will be developing prompts and use cases for Newcode's AI platform, with a specific emphasis on public sector employment law, collective bargaining agreements (tariffavtaler), and related regulatory frameworks.

What you will do:
• Design, write, and test AI prompts grounded in real legal content from collective agreements (tariffavtaler), special agreements (særavtaler), and public procurement regulations

• Map and document key use cases for AI in the public sector — including HR queries, wage negotiations, compliance checks, and contract review

• Analyse Norwegian collective agreements (e.g. Hovedtariffavtalen, Hovedavtalen, sector-specific agreements) and identify clauses and formulations relevant for automation

• Collaborate with legal and technical colleagues to validate and improve model outputs on complex legal questions

• Contribute to documentation and guidelines for the use of AI in public sector contexts

Requirements

• Law student (bachelor or master level), preferably from your 2nd year or beyond

• Solid understanding of Norwegian labour law and/or public law — including the collective agreement system, civil service regulations, or public procurement

• Norwegian speaking— you will work with Norwegian legal texts on a daily basis and fluency is essential

• Analytical and structured — you enjoy breaking down dense legal texts and making them accessible

• Curious about technology and open to learning how AI can be applied in a legal context

• Strong written communication skills in both Norwegian and English

Bonus Points If You...

• Have experience with or a strong interest in public administration, local/central government, or trade union work

• Have studied or have knowledge of legal tech, digitisation of law, or AI regulation (e.g. the EU AI Act)

• Have written a thesis or paper on labour law, public law, or contract law

Benefits

• Paid summer position with competitive compensation

• Close collaboration with experienced lawyers and AI engineers

• A unique opportunity to shape how AI understands Norwegian law

• Potential for continued collaboration beyond the summer
