Street Child in Mozambique: Since 2019, Street Child has been delivering integrated education, child protection, and livelihood support in crisis-affected areas of Mozambique, particularly in Cabo Delgado. To date, we have reached over 141,000 children and engaged more than 24,000 caregivers, supporting children to be safe, in school, and learning in contexts affected by conflict, displacement, and climate shocks. Our programmes combine accelerated learning, teacher training, and school rehabilitation with community-based protection, case management, and mental health and psychosocial support (MHPSS). We have also pioneered accelerated learning approaches, with up to 91% of out-of-school children reintegrated into formal education, and contribute to strengthening resilient, government-aligned education systems.

Part 1:  Role Purpose:

The Digital Learning Coach will support the implementation of a UNICEF-funded digital learning programme titled “Providing Access to Quality Learning through Digital Modalities”, delivered across Cabo Delgado, Nampula, Gaza, and Maputo provinces over a period 12 months.

Street Child is recruiting five Digital Learning Coaches for this programme:

  • Two positions based in Pemba (Cabo Delgado)
  • Two positions based in Nampula (one also covering Zambezia)
  • One position based in Maputo, also covering Gaza

The Digital Learning Coach is a frontline technical role responsible for ensuring high-quality implementation of blended digital learning interventions across schools, multi-purpose centres, and e-learning hubs.

The role goes beyond training to focus on improving teaching practice and learning outcomes—supporting teachers and facilitators to effectively integrate Learning Passport and Maza into classroom delivery, strengthen foundational learning, and improve learner engagement, retention, and transition pathways.

Through regular on-site coaching, classroom observation, and data-driven feedback, the Digital Learning Coach will ensure that programme activities are implemented with fidelity, adapted to local context, and aligned with national education priorities.

The role is central to bridging technology, pedagogy, and system strengthening, working closely with teachers, facilitators, government counterparts, and partners to embed sustainable, scalable blended learning approaches in low-connectivity, crisis-affected settings.

Part 2: Key Responsibilities

General Responsibilities:

  • Comply with Street Child policies, procedures, and safeguarding standards
  • Support delivery of programme objectives in line with donor and government priorities
  • Ensure inclusion of the most vulnerable learners, including girls and children with disabilities
  • Contribute to programme learning, adaptation, and reporting
  • Work closely with local partners, schools, and education authorities

Specific Responsibilities:

a. Practice-Based Training (Equip)

  • Deliver hands-on, pedagogy-focused training to teachers and facilitators on Learning Passport and Maza
  • Build capacity in blended, remedial, and catch-up learning approaches
  • Train teachers in lesson planning, classroom management, and use of digital tools in low-resource environments
  • Support integration of gender-responsive pedagogy and inclusive approaches (UDL principles)

b. Instructional Coaching & Mentoring (Empower)

  • Conduct regular (at least monthly) on-site coaching visits to assigned schools and centres
  • Observe classroom practice using structured observation and fidelity tools
  • Provide practical, actionable feedback to improve teaching quality
  • Mentor teachers and facilitators to strengthen confidence and consistency in delivery

c. Implementation Fidelity & Quality Assurance

  • Monitor adherence to programme design, including use of blended learning methodologies
  • Support consistent application of structured pedagogy and digital learning approaches
  • Identify gaps in implementation and provide targeted support to address them
  • Contribute to maintaining minimum functionality standards across centres

d. Data-Driven Improvement (Inform)

  • Support collection and use of data (attendance, platform usage, learning progress)
  • Use dashboards and monitoring tools to inform coaching and programme adjustments
  • Participate in monthly review processes to analyze performance and improve delivery
  • Provide feedback to programme teams on trends, challenges, and opportunities

e. Learning-to-Earning Pathways

  • Support integration of Maza and digital skills into youth learning pathways
  • Reinforce links between learning, life skills, and employability
  • Work with programme teams and partners to support youth transition into training, internships, or employment opportunities

f. Technical & Operational Support

  • Troubleshoot issues related to devices, platforms, connectivity, and solar systems
  • Support teachers and facilitators in basic equipment management and maintenance
  • Ensure continuity of learning in low-connectivity or disrupted environments

g. System Strengthening & Coordination

  • Engage with teachers, headteachers, IFPs, and local education authorities
  • Support institutionalization of digital learning practices within schools and centres
  • Participate in coordination meetings and contribute to programme planning and adaptation

Education / Qualifications

Essential

Degree in Education or related field

Desirable

Training in digital learning, pedagogy, or teacher training

Experience and Knowledge

Essential

  • Minimum 2–3 years’ experience in teaching, teacher training, or education programming
  • Strong understanding of classroom practice and pedagogy
  • Experience supporting teachers or facilitators in improving instruction
  • Experience working in low-resource, rural, or humanitarian contexts

Desirable

  • Experience with digital learning platforms (e.g. Learning Passport, Maza, or similar)
  • Experience in blended learning, EdTech, or instructional coaching
  • Experience supporting out-of-school children or alternative education pathways
  • Experience linking education to youth skills or livelihoods

Skills  and Abilities
