
SVP, Scientific Services
Omnicom Health Medical Communications (OHMC) is seeking a Senior Vice President to join our Medical & Scientific Services team and oversee the development, execution and delivery of multiple medical communication projects in Promotional Medical Education, Medical Affairs and/or Publications Planning & Strategy. The SVP will assist in the expansion of OHMC offerings and evolution of the organization and will develop and strengthen client relationships, ensuring that the scientific needs of client accounts are being met with strategic focus, scientific rigor and accuracy, and clinical relevance.
BUSINESS AND CLIENT EXPECTATIONS
- Work with the Medical and Scientific Services team to:
- Develop strategies and service lines to support medical communications and scientific exchange with Key Opinion Leaders and HCPs.
- Plan and lead presentations and meetings with all prospective clients and complete any RFPs and proposals; lead follow up to close business
- Support current clients and identify new clients in this field, leveraging knowledge of Medical Affairs and field-deployed scientific liaisons (MSLs/CSLs/TLLs etc.)
- Build mutually beneficial business relationships with clients in order to optimize growth and client satisfaction
- Actively lead and provide strategic support and guidance to all teams as relevant
- Guide the overall cadence of the medical and scientific team to drive OHMC forward
- Manage client relationships in coordination with internal teams
- Supervise members of scientific team on existing and new business opportunities
- Represent the broader medical team and serve as subject matter expert in areas of your experience, including development and delivery of proposals/pitches and strategy into program execution
- Remain abreast of new industry/healthcare directions and trends to identify opportunities and challenges for clients
INTERNAL LEADERSHIP EXPECTATIONS
- 10+ years’ experience managing a large team (20+) of medical staff of PhDs, PharmD and MDs
- Work in multidisciplinary teams to develop new communications solutions to help move healthcare forward
- Lead a team of medical directors, writers, and other subject matter experts, including resourcing, fostering professional development, coaching, and enabling success on their new business and client activities
- Mentor staff at all levels in management responsibilities and promoting a performance-based culture, through the use of continuous feedback
- Foster development of best practices and processes to enable the medical team and the larger organization to grow and succeed in a compliant and efficient fashion
- Participate in solution development for new offerings in conjunction with colleagues across OHMC
- Oversee and review material created by medical and other team members to ensure delivery of high-quality content that meets the needs and objectives of the client and target audience
QUALIFICATIONS FOR POSITION
- Advanced degree (PhD, PharmD, or MD) with a minimum of 10 years of experience in a Medical Communications agency setting
- Ability to quickly understand scientific landscape in different therapeutic areas
- Significant experience consulting and communicating with healthcare professionals
- Experience engaging and building relationships with key opinion leaders
- Ability to tailor communications to various stakeholders in the medical community
- Experience across multiple therapeutic areas is preferred
- Strong desire to drive strategic development and work in a fast-paced, creative environment
- Demonstrated management and leadership skills
- Demonstrated ability to develop and implement business strategies relevant to Medical Affairs
- Ability to present ideas in an articulate, dynamic, and professional manner
- Experience launching new drugs (particularly novel product/new MOA) highly-preferred
