Project Overview

The Taweelah C Project is a landmark greenfield development in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi, representing one of the region’s most advanced and efficient combined cycle gas turbine (CCGT) power plants. With an installed capacity of approximately 2.6 GW, the project will play a critical role in supporting the UAE’s growing electricity demand while delivering high efficiency and lower emissions through state-of-the-art technology.

The project brings together leading international partners with Al Jomaih Energy and Water Co. Ltd. (AEW), and Sembcorp Utilities Pte. Ltd. (Sembcorp)  together with TAQA acting as the Project Company

Taweelah C offers a unique opportunity to be part of a high-profile infrastructure project that will set new benchmarks in performance, reliability, and sustainability in the region’s power sector.

Location: Taweelah, Abu Dhabi, UAE (Site is 30 to 40 Kms from Abu Dhabi city)

Job Overview

To oversee and lead HSSE and risk management systems for CCGT project execution in ensuring strict adherence to local regulations and corporate standards. The scope includes system development, regulatory compliance, stakeholder engagement, incident management, emergency preparedness and fostering a very strong safety culture across the project and all staff.

Requirements

Your Job Functions (Duties & Responsibilities)

  • Familiar in the engineering and construction project environment of CCGT and power projects.
  • Establish HSSE and Risk Management system for project management including but not limited to framework, manual, procedure, checklist, inspection system and procedure, programme etc.
  • Monitor and cascade local laws and regulations and Group HSSE requirements, and imposes measures to ensure that Health, Safety, Environmental and Security compliance and performance expectations are being met.
  • Advise and support the Project team, including interfacing with authorities, and other institutions regarding workplace health, safety, environmental, risk management and security issues.
  • Lead and/or support safety meeting with various stakeholders.
  • Advise and review on MSRA.
  • Support and implement the corporate HSSE Programme, includes participating in steering committee activities, conducts training and coaching for new or existing employees, prepares safety observation analysis and design safety campaign.
  • Lead in managing and solving Environmental, Emergency & Security related matters in projects.
  • Prepares Plant specific Emergency Response Procedure and coordinates planned drills at least annually or per local legal requirement.
  • Act as Fire Safety Manager to conduct regular inspections for critical equipment and systems such as firefighting and lifesaving equipment to ensure they are maintained in good working condition.
  • Supports the implementation of site hazardous material management and ensure the practices conform to the local legal requirements and company standards.
  • Participate in HAZOP, QRA, ESIA studies.
  • Initiates and leads in HSSE Awareness, consultation and engagement program including development and execution of promotional activities and HSSE coaching and training (Safety induction and HSSE critical activities)
  • Participates in Incident Investigation as assigned and ensure lessons learned are shared at appropriate platforms to prevent recurrence.
  • Conduct investigation on any HSSE violation incidents and provide the mitigation, prevention and action plan.
  • Ensure all activities carried out are in full compliance to all regulatory and authority requirement.

Qualifications & Skill Sets

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Occupational Health, Safety Management or Environmental Science or Specialist Diploma in WSH (Level C) and Fire Safety Manager or equivalent
  • At least 15 years of experience in HSSE career in energy business related engineering management and project management (engineering and construction) environment.
  • Demonstrate critical thinking skill, positive attitude, teamwork, analytical, communication skill, leadership skill.
  • Strong self-motivation individual with good working ethics.
  • In-depth knowledge on local and international regulatory framework with strong compliance
  • Proactive and detail-oriented individual that can manage high-risk scenarios with composure and decisiveness
