Video Editor (1 Month Fixed-Term)

About the position
We’re looking for a freelance Video Editor to join our creative team in our New York office from June 1 through July 2, working full-time onsite. You’ll be embedded with our video team and will work closely with directors, producers, and other creative collaborators throughout the engagement.
The core of the role is editing an approximately 3-4 minute promo/documentary-style video about one of our programs. You’ll work from a provided paper cut to shape a strong narrative, build an engaging musical arc, and construct compelling b-roll sequences.
During revision waiting periods, you’ll cut snippets from interview footage for use in other formats and contexts. Premiere and DaVinci Resolve are both welcome; if you’re experienced with and enjoy color grading, you’re welcome to work in Resolve and contribute to that part of the process as well.
About you
Your portfolio will be the strongest factor for consideration, alongside a resume or client/project list. We’re also looking for someone with:
- Have 5-10 years of experience
- Strong editorial instincts, with a feel for narrative structure and pacing
- Demonstrated ability to build musical arcs and craft b-roll sequences
- Proficiency in Premiere Pro or DaVinci Resolve
- Enthusiasm for working on public-facing communications content
- A collaborative, friendly disposition and comfort working on-site with an ambitious creative team

The weekly rate for this fixed-term position is $3,500 – $4,500.
