Senior Accountant

Where and how we work:

We are open to candidates based in Sydney with full Australian work rights. We operate in a hybrid model, giving you flexibility to work from home, a shared workspace, or a combination of both.

About the role:

The Ignition Financial Control Team sits within Ignition’s core operations team as it will enable the business to make critical decisions based on accurate financial data and maintain financial integrity across all areas of finance.

As a Senior Accountant, this role is responsible for ensuring accurate financial reporting, with a strong focus on revenue recognition, COGS, and compliance in a fast-paced, scaling environment.

What your day to day will look like:

  • Manage and ensure accurate revenue recognition in compliance with relevant accounting standards (IFRS and GAAP)

  • Maintain deferred revenue schedules and ensure alignment with billing and subscriptions systems

  • Support statutory reporting, audits, and tax compliance in multiple jurisdictions

  • Prepare and analyse monthly financial reports, including revenue, COGS and margin insights

  • Oversee general ledger, including journal entries, complex reconciliations, and intercompany transactions

  • Ensure compliance with internal controls, accounting policies, and regulatory requirements

  • Support process improvements and automation across accounting systems and SaaS tools

  • Collaborate cross-functionally with sales, operations, engineering, and customer success on billing flows and revenue matters

  • Preparing debt covenant and other banking reporting

What you need to succeed:

List required experience and skills in order from most important to least, qualifications with must-have and nice-to-have

  • Strong understanding of subscription, deferred revenue and contract accounting

  • Proficiency with common SaaS tools and platforms such as Stripe, Recurly, Google Workspace, Atlassian, and reporting tools like Looker

  • 2-3 years multi-entity and multi-region accounting experience in a similar role

  • ERP and finance systems proficiency such as Netsuite, Xero

  • Process improvement and automation mindset

  • Ability to show initiative and solve problems on the run

  • Experience in stakeholder relationship management and effective communication skills

  • Willingness to learn the Ignition product and value proposition, as this drives everything we do
