Role Overview
The Foundation Infrastructure Engineer is responsible for building, operating, and evolving Cognite’s production-grade, multi-cloud infrastructure platform that accelerates solution deployment, ensures reliability, and enables secure, compliant delivery across customer environments
The role focuses on GitOps-based CI/CD, Infrastructure as Code, observability, cost governance, and platform reliability across Azure and GCP clusters.
Key Roles and Responsibilities
- Build and maintain infrastructure across Azure and GCP using Terraform (Infrastructure as Code).
- Deploy and manage applications on Kubernetes clusters (AKS / GKE).
- Support CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions and manage deployments through Argo CD (GitOps model).
- Create, maintain, and customize Helm charts for solution deployments.
- Monitor platform health using tools like Victoria Metrics and Grafana.
- Investigate and resolve infrastructure-related issues within business hours.
- Support onboarding of new solutions onto the F25E platform.
- Manage secrets securely using External Secrets Operator, Azure KeyVault, and GCP Secrets Manager.
- Track and optimize cloud costs using OpenCost and native cloud billing tools.
- Ensure deployments follow security and compliance requirements (SOC 2 aligned).
- Contribute to improving automation, deployment speed, and platform reliability.
- Collaborate with data engineers and solution architects to enable smooth solution delivery.
- Follow PR-based workflows for infrastructure and deployment changes.
- Support supported solutions running on production clusters when required.

- Multi-Cloud Platforms (Azure, GCP)
- Observability & Monitoring (Victoria Metrics, Grafana)
Ideal Profile
- Strong Kubernetes and multi-cloud experience (Azure & GCP preferred)
- Deep understanding of GitOps and Infrastructure as Code
- Experience operating production-grade platforms
- Exposure to SOC 2 / compliance environments
- Experience in cost governance and FinOps
- Strong problem-solving and platform ownership mindset
