About the role

We are seeking a skilled Roku Software Developer to join our team. As a key contributor, you will be responsible for developing, testing, and maintaining high-performance Roku channels and applications. You will work closely with cross-functional teams, including product managers, designers, and QA engineers, to deliver top-notch streaming experiences.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and Maintain Roku Applications: Design, develop, and optimize Roku channels using BrightScript and SceneGraph, ensuring high performance and user experience.
  • Collaborate with Cross-Functional Teams: Work closely with product managers, UX/UI designers, and other engineers to understand requirements and deliver solutions that align with business goals.
  • Code Reviews and Best Practices: Participate in code reviews, provide constructive feedback, and adhere to best practices in coding standards and software architecture.
  • Debugging and Issue Resolution: Identify, troubleshoot, and resolve issues in Roku applications, ensuring smooth and error-free operation.
  • Continuous Improvement: Stay updated with the latest Roku development trends, tools, and technologies, and contribute to the continuous improvement of our development process.
  • Documentation: Write and maintain clear and concise technical documentation for new and existing features.
  • Mentorship: Provide guidance and mentorship to junior developers, helping them grow their skills and understanding of Roku development.

Qualifications:

  • Experience: 4-6 years of professional software development experience, with significant experience in Roku development.
  • Technical Leadership: Demonstrated ability to lead technical projects, make architectural decisions, and influence best practices within the team.
  • Advanced Problem Solving: Expertise in diagnosing and resolving complex technical issues, with a proactive approach to identifying potential risks.
  • Mentorship: Proven experience mentoring junior developers and contributing to the overall skill development of the team.
  • Collaboration: Strong ability to work with remote teams and manage dependencies across multiple stakeholders.
  • Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with video streaming technologies, DRM, and content delivery networks (CDN).
  • Familiarity with Agile/Scrum methodologies.
  • Experience with Unit-testing frameworks (Rooibos)
  • Experience with automated testing frameworks for Roku applications.

The Pay Range for this position is listed. Actual pay will vary based on factors including, but not limited to location, experience, and performance. The range listed is just one component of Crunchyroll’s Total Rewards offerings for employees.
