Good people. Good work. Great opportunities.

McCullough Robertson is a commercially focused firm, working with high-calibre national and international clients. We work on big matters in small teams, approaching each day with dedication and professionalism.

We provide exceptional opportunities for our employees to perform, grow and succeed, through extensive training and career development. Our teams work together and support one another to achieve individual, team and firm-wide goals.

Backed by a national team of over 400 staff located in Brisbane and Sydney, McCullough Robertson is a big firm, without the attitude.

The Team

McCullough Robertson’s Construction and Infrastructure group is known for guiding clients seamlessly through all stages of a project. Drawing on deep experience in advising on risk allocation and delivering major developments across Australia, we operate as a genuine extension of our clients’ teams, focusing on pragmatic, commercially-driven solutions.

We deliver end-to-end project support across a diverse range of industries. Our experience includes significant involvement in mining and energy infrastructure, renewable energy projects such as solar and wind farms and battery storage systems, as well as essential utilities including pipelines, water and wastewater treatment facilities, and electricity networks. We also regularly advise on ports and airports, transport infrastructure such as roads and rail, and major social infrastructure projects.

The Role

We are recruiting for a high-performing and enthusiastic front-end lawyer to join our renowned Sydney Construction practice.

This role provides a fantastic opportunity to advise on a broad spectrum of construction and infrastructure-related matters, including project agreements, design and construct agreements, facilities management contracts and standing offer deeds.

You will work with an array of clients including developers, contractors, airport operators, shopping centre developments, infrastructure, commercial, residential and industrial projects and demolition and remediation projects. As a trusted adviser, you will provide thorough commercial advice on all aspects of drafting and negotiation of commercial and procurement contracts, documentation, procedures and contract administration, whilst assisting with project delivery for clients including contract administration issues, commercial wrap ups and construction disputes.

Experience

As the successful candidate, you will be a skilled and enthusiastic Lawyer or Senior Associate with a minimum of three years’ post-admission experience. You will bring strong technical capability and solid industry knowledge, ideally developed through prior experience in construction, infrastructure, or a related practice area.

You will have a genuine passion for construction law and a clear commitment to building a long-term career in this space. A proactive and commercially minded approach will see you thrive in a fast-paced environment where no two matters are the same.

In addition, you will be an effective communicator who is confident engaging with clients and stakeholders at all levels. You will be equally comfortable working independently and taking ownership of matters, as well as contributing collaboratively within a close-knit and high-performing team.
