More about the role:

Burson is seeking a Director to join our Insights, Data and Intelligence team. This unique and highly specialized role will drive strategic insights work supporting some of the most impactful Jewish organizations and advocacy groups.

This is a unique opportunity to operate at the intersection of data, culture, and communications: leading high-impact work that shapes narratives, informs strategy, and brings clarity to complex dynamics within global Jewish communities and markets. You will serve as a senior partner to clients and internal stakeholders, delivering data-driven insights that influence branding and positioning, (potential) donor outreach and communications, targeting and messaging strategy, community and stakeholder engagement, impact measurement, mission creation / guidance / measurement and general consulting.

The ideal candidate has a background in market research and strong understanding of the Jewish community and the vastness within it, the challenges and opportunities the community and its cohorts face, and a knowledge and familiarity with various Jewish organizations, advocacy groups and charities.

What you'll do:

  • Lead end-to-end insights engagements, overseeing data collection, analysis, and synthesis across projects focused on Jewish communities and related topics.
  • Be responsible for managing the execution and implementation of custom qualitative and quantitative research and consulting projects. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: designing research projects and writing proposals and survey instruments, managing all phases of a project from start to finish, supervising and directing a team of analysts, ensuring projects are completed accurately and on time, identifying and recommending solutions to issues that may arise during a project’s lifecycle, and answering questions and providing status updates to the client.
  • Serve as a strategic advisor to Jewish non-profit and advocacy groups, translating complex data and cultural signals into clear, actionable recommendations
  • Own and direct media monitoring, social listening, and intelligence programs, identifying emerging trends, risks, and opportunities. Leverage platforms such as Brandwatch, Sprinklr, and NewsWhip to uncover advanced insights tied to brand reputation, key issues, and cultural dynamics
  • Guide the development of high-quality deliverables, including executive-level reports, narrative briefs, and strategic presentations
  • Oversee and mentor junior team members, providing direction on methodologies, analysis, and storytelling best practices
  • Ensure accuracy, rigor, and strategic consistency across all deliverables and outputs
  • Contribute to the growth of the practice by identifying new opportunities, refining methodologies, and strengthening client relationships

Experience that contributes to success:

  • 7+ years of experience in analytics, market research and insights, communications strategy, and/or a related field (agency or in-house)
  • Demonstrated experience leading research projects and managing client relationships in fast-paced, high-stakes environments
  • Expertise in media intelligence, social listening, and analytics tools (e.g., Brandwatch, Sprinklr, NewsWhip, Meltwater, etc.) is a plus
  • Deep understanding of the diversity within Jewish communities, including key organizations, cultural nuances, and advocacy landscapes
  • Proven ability to synthesize complex data into compelling narratives for senior stakeholders and executive audiences
  • Strong communication and presentation skills, with experience navigating sensitive, nuanced, or highly visible topics
  • Experience mentoring or managing junior team members and contributing to team development
  • Advanced proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint; experience with dashboards, data visualization, and emerging AI/LLM tools is a plus
  • Ability to manage multiple workstreams simultaneously while maintaining high standards for quality and detail
  • Collaborative, proactive, and solutions-oriented mindset with a strong sense of ownership
  • Bonus: Fluency in Hebrew or other languages relevant to global Jewish communities (e.g., Yiddish)
