Position Objective:

This leadership position will be responsible for supervision and all aspects of Pathways Outpatient Treatment Program including administration of scheduling, assessments, counseling service delivery, clinical supervision, and training of program staff. This position works closely with, and provides backup support for, the Manager of the Inpatient/Residential program and reports to the Pathways Clinical Director. Luminis Behavioral Health provides multiple levels of care; every staff member has a role in our patients’ success and staff may be asked to work in other areas of admission or treatment as needed.

Essential Job Duties:

1. Responsible for clinical supervision of Outpatient counseling staff, reviewing all clinical documentation to meet Joint Commission, COMAR, and Pathways' regulations, requirements, and guidelines, supporting staff in managing caseloads, tracking client progress, and assisting staff in responding to each patient on an individualized basis.

2. Maintains working knowledge of current outpatient counseling census and attendance, and assigns new cases as applicable. Manages or provides backup direct services when staff are absent.

3. Assists in the development of staff knowledge and skills by identifying learning opportunities and determining counselor strengths to maintain clinical competence and professional growth. Serves as teacher, trainer, and professional role model by providing alternative case conceptualizations, oversight of counselor work to achieve mutually agreed upon goals, and professional gatekeeping of staff and services for the organization

4. Conducts ongoing assessment of Pathways' outpatient service delivery to ensure alignment with current evidence• based practices and measurement-based care. Develop training protocols for staff education to facilitate new programming implementation.

5. Works closely with the Clinical Director to identify strategic goals for expansion of clinical services and implements action plans towards these goals including program adjustments based on outpatient census trends.

6. Provides leadership oversight through weekly team meetings and weekly chart audits to ensure Pathways Outpatient staff compliance with Joint Commission, COMAR, and organizational standards. Coaches and mentors staff to strengthen clinical documentation, quality, and professional note-writing competencies.

7. Conducts yearly performance reviews for direct reports. Meets with staff to develop action plans in response to identified areas needing improvement. Acts as a liaison to Human Resources in case of necessary disciplinary actions.

8. Collaborates closely with the Inpatient/Residential manager to ensure quality transitions between inpatient and outpatient levels of care.

9. Attends multidisciplinary clinical staff meetings and participates in in-service trainings. Serves as a member of select committees as necessary and prepares documented material in accordance with relevant guidelines in Continuous Quality Improvement reviews.

10. Engages in ongoing personal development to increase competencies and leadership training. Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending education workshops and training, reviewing professional publications, establishing personal networks, and participating in professional societies.


Required Education: A minimum of master's degree in a behavioral health field from an accredited university with significant coursework in substance use disorders.

Required Experience: Three years of professional experience in substance use disorder treatment to include assessment, case management, group, family, or individual counseling.

Required License/Certifications: Licensed Graduate Professional Counselor (LGPC) license OR Licensed Master of Social Work (LMSW) from the Maryland Board of Social Work Examiners (licensure supervision is provided).

Preferred Experience/Licensure/Certifications: Strongly preferred: Previous experience in inpatient/residential or outpatient substance use disorder treatment. In addition to graduate licensures, certification as CAC-AD from the MD Board of Professional Counselors and Therapists is strongly preferred.

Working Conditions, Equipment, Physical Demands: Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association is to be obtained through Luminis Health within 30 days of hire.

$72,394$108,591 USD
