The Opportunity
Join the Growth Data Platform team to build the decision engine behind Hinge Health’s growth. GDP is the platform that powers the data pipelines, event streams, and intelligence layer that shape member experiences across the growth journey, from the first marketing touchpoint to personalized engagement moments like Daily Streak notifications. In this role, you will help transform GDP from a data mover into a real-time decisioning platform by operationalizing ML models, strengthening observability and data trust, and building the systems that route intelligence into execution. You will also help lead the shift toward AI-native engineering, using autonomous agents, test harnesses, and modern data infrastructure practices to scale both engineering productivity and business impact.
We enjoy a continuous deployment DevOps culture, and take owner-operator pride in supporting our code in production. Our production systems rely on React Native, React, Node.js, TypeScript, Nestjs, GraphQL, Docker, Rails, AWS, Postgres, Redis, Apollo, and Redux. Our workflow is trunk-based CI/CD, and our security/compliance posture is at the highest standards of healthcare, including HIPAA, HITRUST, SOC 2, and CCPA.
What You'll Accomplish
Deliver large projects that introduce new product capabilities, often acting as a maintainer for key code repositories.
Break down complex problems into manageable tasks, ensuring steady and predictable delivery while identifying and resolving root causes of incidents.
Collaborate with your team to roadmap and execute ambitious technical strategies, balancing short-term and long-term trade-offs.
Mentor and support junior engineers, providing thoughtful code reviews and real-time pairing.
Design and build AI-powered clinical agents using LangGraph.js for stateful orchestration, composing multi-node StateGraphs that handle context gathering, LLM reasoning, and action execution within a shared NestJS service.
Integrate LangSmith for end-to-end AI observability, including prompt versioning and management via LangSmith Hub, automated per-node tracing, evaluation pipelines with golden datasets, and CI-gated quality checks that block regressions before merge.
Develop and maintain agentic workflows that leverage LLMs (Claude Sonnet via AWS Bedrock)
Contribute to the Member-Centric Knowledge Graph and RAG-based retrieval systems that give agents the clinical context, causal evidence, and relationship awareness needed for intelligent decision-making.
Proactively improve the maintainability, availability, and performance of the team's features, and contribute to the team's overall architecture and developer tooling.
Communicate technical ideas clearly to both technical and non-technical partners, and document solutions for future reference.
Basic Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree (or equivalent) in Computer Science, Engineering or related technical field
5+ years of non-internship full time professional software development experience
3+ years of work experience Node JS/ Typescript
Experience with using AI tools such as Github copilot or Cursor
Experience delivering large software projects or features in a production environment.
1+ years of hands-on experience building applications with LLMs, including prompt engineering, model integration (e.g., OpenAI, Anthropic/Claude, AWS Bedrock), and evaluating AI output quality
Experience with agentic AI frameworks such as LangGraph, LangChain, or similar orchestration libraries for building stateful, multi-step AI workflows
Familiarity with LangSmith or equivalent AI observability/evaluation platforms for tracing, prompt management, and regression testing of LLM-powered features
Understanding of responsible AI practices including PHI/PII handling, guardrails, and output validation in healthcare or regulated environments
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with AI technologies for software design and coding assistance
Experience mentoring or onboarding junior engineers
Familiarity with distributed systems, cloud infrastructure, or scalable architectures
Implement feature-flag-gated deployments for growth infrastructure changes, ensuring safe rollout of new event handling and email delivery logic without disrupting existing member journeys.
Collaborate with Data Science teams to author Technical Design Documents (TDDs) that govern how ML model outputs are consumed into operational pipelines, aligning engineering, DS, and product before implementation begins.
Wire ML model prediction outputs into the CDP via Segment custom events, bridging DS/ML model scoring to member-facing campaign activation in Iterable.
Provision and manage Terraform infrastructure for data platform resources — declaring Segment Reverse ETL models, destinations, alerts, and SQL permission resources to deploy data pipelines and CDP integrations as code serving as the resilience layer alongside real-time Kafka paths.
Author DBT/SQL data models across growth and analytics — writing CTEs, deduplication logic, and multi-source joins to produce clean, growth-analytics-ready tables consumed by Segment, and downstream marketing systems.
Implement Databricks PySpark jobs for capturing growth data signals — including Spark streaming with Change Data Capture patterns for behavioral events with checkpoint-based fault tolerance and incremental state management.
Setup data quality monitoring and alerting for dbt models, dbr pipelines, event consumers, for pipeline health & critical failures, leveraging Datadog metrics, Metaplane monitoring and PagerDuty escalations maintaining pipeline SLAs on production environments.
Treat data quality as a first-class product requirement by implementing automated checks, observability, and lineage that ensure trusted data delivery to downstream growth and marketing systems.
Experience with healthcare technology or regulated environments
Experience with Agile development practices
Experience building multi-agent orchestration systems using Temporal, LangGraph, or similar frameworks for durable, human-in-the-loop workflows
