We are a close-knit group of engineers of different stripes - developers, designers, and product owners - who are working together to solve interesting e-commerce and supply chain problems around how people eat. Sometimes, this involves implementing features to improve the user
journey and making it easier for our customers to buy amazing food. Other times, this means creating stable software solutions that keep our distribution centers running.
We are looking for an engineer to help implement solutions & write beautiful code, working with various team members as we build out our consumer facing applications & the infrastructure that supports them. As a member of our Toronto team, you’ll work with highly-skilled engineers, who in collaboration with our other global teams, have turned HelloFresh into the #1 meal delivery service in the world!
Lettuce share what this role will be responsible for
- You will be a senior technical authority within the Loyalty & Virality tribe — setting architectural direction, driving technical excellence, and mentoring engineers across the team. This is a high-impact individual contributor role with significant influence over how we scale our referral and virality systems globally
- Define and drive the technical strategy for our referral and virality platform, ensuring systems are flexible, resilient, and scalable across all HelloFresh brands and markets
- Take end-to-end ownership of the architecture, design, development, deployment, and operations of the Share squad’s microservices
- Champion the adoption of AIin the squads and machine learning across the tribe, identifying opportunities for personalization, predictive engagement, and intelligent reward optimization.
- Be an active, solution-oriented member of an autonomous, cross-functional agile team, collaborating closely with Product Owners, Engineers, Designers, and BI teams in your direct team and across the organization
- Communicate effectivelyacross the engineering organisation and facilitate technical alignment among stakeholders and colleagues with different interests.

Sound a-peeling? Here's what we're looking for
- Strong experience with microservice architecture, event-driven systems (ie: Kafka, RabbitMQ), and distributed architectural patterns.
- Hands-on experience with Docker and container orchestration technologies such as Kubernetes, as well as CI/CD practices.
- Proficiency with relational and document databases, including PostgreSQL, MySQL, and/or MongoDB.
- AI proficiency and advocacy. Hands-on familiarity with AI technologies and a track record of championing their adoption, whether through AI-assisted development workflows, ML-driven product features, or leveraging LLMs to accelerate team productivity.
- Proficiency or hands-on production experience in Golang or Python
- Excellent communication skills. Interacting with frontend developers, designers, product managers, and global teams is part of the day-to-day. You can influence without authority and bring clarity to complex technical topics.
