About the Team

Like every team at OpenAI, the Marketing team contributes to our broader mission of ensuring responsible and widespread adoption of artificial intelligence. With that aim in mind, we are responsible for developing and executing strategies that drive awareness, engagement, and usage for OpenAI’s products and platform amongst our core audiences. We take a data-driven approach to understand our customers' needs and challenges, ensuring that their voices are reflected in product development and messaging. We then partner closely with Product, Engineering, Research, Comms, and Design teams to create a cohesive customer experience across all our channels. Our focus extends beyond just promoting product features; we aim to provide valuable insights and resources that help our users make the most out of AI technologies.

About the role

OpenAI is looking for a Web Platform Lead to own and scale our marketing web ecosystem and the technology that powers it. This leader will be accountable for web initiatives—driving strategy, standards, tooling, and governance across a growing multi-domain environment. You’ll partner closely with Marketing, Product, Engineering, Brand, Growth, Comms, Legal, and leadership to align priorities, make tradeoffs, and deliver high-impact work at speed.

This is a hands-on leadership role for someone who can operate at both the “dot com as a business” level (growth, performance, conversion, measurement) and the systems level (platform strategy, governance, AI-native workflows, experimentation, operations).

In this role, you will

  • Own and scale the web presence for a defined product portfolio within OpenAI’s broader marketing ecosystem.

  • Set the web and platform strategy to evolve from a single core domain into a multi-domain ecosystem with shared standards, tooling, governance, and scalable delivery models.

  • Establish and maintain architecture principles, guardrails, and decision frameworks that enable speed without sacrificing quality, brand integrity, or security.

  • Be the accountable owner for flagship web initiatives.

  • Lead complex, cross-company web efforts driving alignment and crisp decision-making when priorities compete.

  • Build operating rhythms that keep stakeholders aligned and execution unblocked.

  • Lead the MarTech stack + AI-native marketing operations.

  • Contribute to the web-related MarTech stack (CMS and publishing workflows, experimentation, analytics/measurement, performance tooling, integrations, etc.).

  • Drive AI-native workflows across content, experimentation, and operations to increase throughput and improve quality (e.g., faster iteration cycles, better personalization, smarter QA, streamlined approvals).

  • Run planning, intake, and prioritization.

  • Create clarity and momentum in a high-velocity environment by owning roadmaps, intake mechanisms, prioritization frameworks, and capacity planning.

  • Define what success looks like (KPIs/OKRs), and instrument systems to measure impact reliably.

  • Provide senior cross-functional leadership.

  • Partner with executives and senior leaders across Marketing, Product, Brand, Growth, Comms, Legal, and Engineering to resolve tradeoffs and move work forward.

  • Ensure web initiatives support business goals (including conversion and ecommerce-related experiences where applicable), while meeting compliance, privacy, and security expectations.

You might thrive in this role if you

  • Have 10+ years of experience in e-commerce, web platforms, digital product, growth engineering, or marketing engineering, including leadership of multi-disciplinary teams.

  • Have demonstrated ownership of a high-scale web ecosystem (multi-domain or multi-product environments), with strong instincts for platform strategy, governance, and execution.

  • Strong track record leading cross-functional flagship initiatives with many stakeholders—able to drive clarity, alignment, and decisions.

  • Deep experience with experimentation and measurement (A/B testing, analytics, attribution/measurement strategy, performance marketing signals).

  • Comfort operating at both strategic and technical levels—able to partner closely with engineers and also communicate crisp tradeoffs to senior stakeholders.

  • Excellent operational rigor: roadmap planning, intake/prioritization, capacity management, and delivery hygiene.

  • Create a scalable web platform strategy that unlocks speed and consistency across domains.

  • Establish clear ownership and governance so teams can move fast without confusion.

  • Lead flagship web initiatives to high-quality launches, even amid competing priorities.

  • Modernize the MarTech stack and operational workflows—especially through AI-native approaches.

  • Make OpenAI’s web presence measurably better as a business and as a product experience.
