Job Title: Cloud Subject Matter Expert (M365) – Secure System Build
Location: Canberra, ACT Contract Type: Casual fixed contract – 10/03/26 – 27/11/26 with possible extension. Security Clearance: NV2
About the Role: We are seeking a highly skilled Cloud SME with deep expertise in Microsoft 365 to support the design and delivery of a secure system build. This role will focus on providing expert guidance on M365 architecture, security, and governance to ensure the solution meets enterprise and regulatory standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide subject matter expertise on Microsoft 365, including Exchange Online, SharePoint, Teams, OneDrive, and related services.
- Lead the design, implementation, and configuration of M365 components in a secure enterprise environment.
- Advise on security, compliance, and governance frameworks to ensure alignment with organisational policies.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including infrastructure, network, security, and application teams, to ensure seamless integration of M365 into the system build.
- Develop and maintain architecture documentation, standard operating procedures, and configuration guides.
- Support risk assessment, mitigation planning, and security testing for M365 environments.
- Provide mentoring and guidance to technical teams on best practices and secure cloud deployment.
Key Skills & Experience:
- Proven expertise in Microsoft 365 administration, architecture, and security.
- Experience in secure system builds or enterprise cloud migrations.
- Strong understanding of compliance frameworks (e.g., ISO 27001, NIST, or equivalent).
- Hands-on experience with M365 security, governance, and identity management (Azure AD, Conditional Access, MFA, DLP, etc.).
- Experience with cloud collaboration, migration strategies, and hybrid deployments.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
Desirable:
- Experience in Defence, Government, or highly secure enterprise environments.
- Knowledge of DevOps/automation for M365 deployment and management.
