Opportunity for a Phlebotomist/Pathology Collector - flexible availability to work on-a-needs basis at least 7 hours a week
Located on the Camperdown Campus at the Healthy Brain Ageing Clinic
HEO3 $48.13 per hour + 17% superannuation
About the opportunity
The Healthy Brain Ageing Clinic at the Brain and Mind Centre is seeking a confident and well-experienced Phlebotomist/Pathology Collector (blood collection will primarily be performed) that has extensive experience in a healthcare setting with a major provider (i.e., NSW Health, DHM or Laverty).
The successful applicant should be capable and confident in collecting blood from older patients, with approximately 3 tubes regularly collected per patient (3 patients within 30 minutes). Ideally, you would be ICH-GCP trained, and be familiar with the operations of clinical trials.
The clinic generally requires support between 8:30am and 12:00pm on Tuesday and Wednesdays.
Your key responsibilities will also include:
actively managing equipment/consumable supply levels and ordering supplies well in advance
processing and aliquoting of blood and storage and record keeping, as well as arranging courier to other sites.
About you

2 years’ + experience working in a primary healthcare setting with a major provider (i.e. NSW Health, DHM, Laverty)
previous basic lab experience (i.e. centrifuging, aliquoting) preferred
HLT37215 Certificate III in Pathology Collection or HLTPAT002 Perform venous blood collections
ability to collect blood from multiple patients within a short period of time (i.e. 3 patients within 30 minutes, 3x9mL per patient)
advanced communication skills (verbal and written)
diligent supply management, and the ability to order consumables from existing vendors
experience working with older patients
high standard of care when it comes to labelling of specimens and record keeping.

Please note: Visa sponsorship is not available for this position. Australian Temporary Residents currently employed at the University of Sydney may be considered for a fixed term contract for the length of their visa, depending on the requirements of the hiring area and the position.
