As a Tailings Discipline Manager, you will be responsible for managing and maintaining technical excellence across the team, diversifying our current market exposure, growing our customer network and attracting new talent. You must demonstrate the ability to manage, technically lead and deliver tailings projects with an ability or potential to contribute to our water dams capability, whilst being actively supported by our technical subject matter experts (SMEs).

What you’ll do
We’re looking for a Tailings Discipline Manager to join our team based in Western Australia.
The role responsibilities include:
- Provide leadership and technical stewardship to fellow team members in the investigation, engineering, and design of tailings storage facilities, with an awareness of water dam design.
- Display extensive, relevant industry knowledge and being across the latest design assessment methodologies.
- Grow the technical capability of our Tailings discipline and broaden the offering across the Worley business, both locally and globally.
- Oversee and provide project management support to assist with successful project delivery.
- Work across the following elements of the life cycle of tailings projects, supported by our SMEs:
- Strategy, optioneering and concept design.
- Site investigation requirements.
- Analysis and modelling (supported by our SMEs).
- Engineering technical design aspects as listed below.
- Construction support which includes project specifications and schedule of quantities.
- Instrumentation.
- Life of Mine studies.
- CDA, ANCOLD and GISTM safety audits.
- Engineer of Record duties.
- Closure.
- Lead and support the preparation of proposal/project budgets.
- Establish and maintain good relationships with selected contractors, customers and other Worley Consulting/Worley personnel.
- Continue to grow our Tailings discipline through identifying market opportunities and support the conversion of opportunities from proposals into projects.
- Contribute to, and support, the implementation of our Tailings strategy, with the ability to enable this strategy through tactical execution.
- Deliver effective team communication, coaching, mentoring and supervisory skills to contribute to the building, motivation and development of an engaging team, maximizing technical excellence.
What you’ll have
- Post-graduate tertiary qualifications in relevant discipline and a preference for recent publication history.
- Demonstrable ability to lead and grow a small team, with highly effective people management and leadership skills.
- Highly effective project management skills including the ability to plan, set goals, manage time, set priorities, allocate and manage resources, accountabilities, and budget.
- Impactful business development skills including the ability to develop new customer relationships, manage/support existing customer relationships and win work.
- Demonstrated history of effective customer engagement, relationships and management.
- Strong doer-seller mentality and approach.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills including the ability to convey information and ideas to individuals and group.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Experience in preparing proposals and technical report writing in discipline.
- Registration with appropriate professional institutions.
- The ability to travel locally and internationally to project sites, as required.
