Keep one of Sydney’s most critical motorway and tunnel networks safe, moving and operational 24/7. As the Incident Response Lead, you will provide day‑to‑day operational leadership of the IR team, ensuring fast, coordinated and compliant response to incidents across the Northern Assets network.
This role suits a calm, decisive operator who can lead in dynamic field environments, manage a large shift-based workforce, and maintain readiness of people, vehicles and equipment at all times. You will play a key role in the safety, performance and resilience of major road and tunnel assets.
Key responsibilities
Lead and coordinate all incident response activity across tunnel and motorway assets
Manage workforce planning, rosters, shift performance and IR capability development
Maintain readiness and compliance of emergency response vehicles, equipment and field capability
Oversee safe responses to incidents, traffic hazards, breakdowns and unplanned events in live traffic environments
Ensure compliance with contractual response and clearance KPIs and operational standards
Support planned closures and shutdowns
What you’ll bring
Mandatory MR licence and traffic management qualifications (TMI/TMO or equivalent)
Experience in motorway or tunnel incident response, including live incident management and traffic interfaces
Background in leading shift‑based teams or managing 24/7 operations
Strong understanding of staging, deployment, incident scene safety and multi‑agency coordination
The ability to make confident, rapid decisions under pressure and communicate clearly to crews and stakeholders
