Career Opportunity
A position has become available for a Claims Service consultant in the Santam Namibia Claims Services department. This position will be based in Windhoek, Namibia.
What will you do?
The consultant will provide expert legal advice following in depth assessment of the substantive merit of proposed causes of action and defences when Legal Access claims are registered. The consultant will assist with the overall handling of legal access claims from the registration of claim up till the settlement of a claim.
What will make you successful in this role?
The candidate will be expected to perform (but not limited to) the following duties:
- Registration of Legal Access claims.
- Ensure that claims are complete / all documents required is received from clients.
- Confirm premium and cover.
- Verify critical documentation and ensure it is clearly uploaded on the system.
- Ensure that estimates and claim cause code is correct.
- To conclude all the administration functions that is involved in the post-assessment process.
- To oversee prosecution of mandates of appointed legal practitioners. To assist, advise and provide guidance to appointed legal practitioners in the interest of optimizing service delivery and effective risk management.
- Instruction of legal practitioners.
- Ensure that claim payments are processed timeously.
- Facilitation to resolve to legal issues without referral to external panel of attorneys or to ensure that only those claims which have substantive merit are referred – avoiding / limiting costs as result.
- To be responsible for the taxation of invoices rendered for payment by appointed legal practitioners in terms of the tariffs incorporated in the Service Level Instruction and to verify the veracity of time allocated in respect of professional services rendered.
- Handling of complaints within the Legal access environment.
Qualification and Experience
- Pass mark in Grade 12 or Equivalent.
- Computer Literate (Intermediate to Advance knowledge of MS Office package: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Internet).
- 3 years’ experience in short term legal insurance claims environment.
- 3 years’ practical experience in the legal field.
- Namibian citizenship.
- Proficient in English and Afrikaans.
- Academic Qualification and experience will be an advantage.
