We are seeking an experienced and motivated Laboratory Team Leader to join our team in Lower Hutt. This is a key leadership role responsible for people management, operational efficiency, quality compliance, and continuous improvement within a busy laboratory environment.

About the Role

You will lead and develop dedicated laboratory teams and support our supervisors to ensure customer requirements and turnaround times are consistently met. This role combines hands-on operational oversight with strong people leadership and a focus on safety, quality, and performance.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead, coach and develop team members through regular performance and development discussions
• Manage workflow, staffing levels, and consumables to ensure efficient laboratory operations
• Ensure urgent testing is prioritised and delivery targets are achieved
• Monitor leave balances and support workforce planning and succession
• Foster cross-training and capability development across disciplines
• Champion workplace health, safety, and quality system compliance
• Collaborate closely with Service Manager and internal stakeholders to meet customer expectations
• Drive process efficiencies and support continuous improvement initiatives

• Proven experience leading or supervising a technical or laboratory team
• Strong organisational and problem-solving skills
• A collaborative leadership style with the ability to motivate and develop others
• Experience working within quality systems and regulated environments
