The swing driver is responsible for safely operating all types of company owned commercial motor vehicles.  This position adheres to company policies & procedures, governing regulatory requirements, & provides excellent customer service.    

 

Responsibilities

  1. Ensures maximum efficiency in achieving or exceeding established goals
  2. Operate various equipment with a GVW >26,001 lbs. (including but not limited to van trailers, tank trailers, & straight trucks)
  3. Performs complete pre- and post-trip inspections including, but not limited to checking tire pressure, fluid levels, safety equipment, spill kit, gauges, & controls
  4. Maneuvers commercial truck safely in congested city, highway, & client job sites
  5. Complies with truck driving rules and regulations (size, weight, route designations, load securement, parking, & break periods) as well as with company policies and procedures
  6. Communicates with & receives direction from office personnel dispatching loads
  7. Completes all required daily paperwork & vehicle inspection reports while complying with all local, state, & federal regulations 
  8. Maintain up to date training & education for licenses, permits & regulatory information specific to job responsibilities
  9. Documents & logs work / rest periods and miles spent driving
  10. Demonstrates safety conscious behaviors & attends training / safety meetings 
  11. Assists with the cleaning of company facilities, equipment, & general housekeeping 
  12. After training competency has been verified, assists with training drivers 
  13. Reports defects, accidents, or violations & performs other duties as assigned
  14. Must be able to complete shipping documents accurately & legibly in accordance with all state / federal regulations

  

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma/GED
  • Must pass pre-employment criteria
  • Valid Class A CDL w/ HazMat & Tanker Endorsements
  • Minimum 2+ years’ experience (Preferred)
  • Satisfactory driving experience
  • Must be 21 years of age or older
  • Must be able to obtain TWIC clearance
  • Must be able to pass a DOT physical & drug screen
  • Must be able to pass a background check

 

Physical Demands

    • Stand, walk, use hand and fingers to handle, feel and reach with hands and arms
    • The employee must lift up to 50 pounds
  • Vision capabilities include
    • Close Vision, Far Vision, peripheral vision, Depth perception and the ability to adjust focus
  • This position will require wearing personal protective equipment.
  • This position requires sitting for long periods of time with moderate standing, walking, twisting, squatting & kneeling.
  • This physically strenuous position involves mounting & dismounting a heavy-duty truck many times each day. This position is physically demanding, requiring heavy containers & hoses to be loaded onto a trailer in different scenarios (i.e., from the ground onto a lift gate).
