Job Purpose:

The Lead - Incoming & NDT (QA Blade) manages quality assurance for incoming inspections and non-destructive testing (NDT) of blade components, ensuring compliance with design specifications and industry standards. This role oversees material validation, coordinates NDT processes, manages non-conformances, and maintains comprehensive quality records. The position involves leading and training QA teams, developing inspection protocols, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to enhance the overall quality and integrity of blade manufacturing.

Quality Management of Incoming Materials and NDT Processes

  • Lead QA activities for incoming inspections and non-destructive testing (NDT) of blade components, ensuring compliance with specifications.
  • Develop and implement inspection protocols that include NDT methods such as ultrasonic testing (UT) and thermographic inspection for defect detection.

Incoming Material Inspection and Validation

  • Oversee the inspection of incoming materials, including core materials, adhesives, and structural components, verifying their conformity with design specifications.
  • Ensure that all materials are tested for critical properties, such as density, fiber alignment, and cure quality, before being used in blade manufacturing.

NDT Coordination and Execution

  • Manage the NDT processes for blades, focusing on identifying internal defects such as delamination's, voids, and cracks that could compromise blade integrity.
  • Ensure that NDT equipment is calibrated and used according to industry standards, such as ISO 9712 (NDT Personnel Qualification).

Non-Conformance Management and Corrective Actions

  • Identify non-conformances during incoming and NDT inspections, coordinating with production teams to implement corrective actions.
  • Utilize advanced analysis techniques, such as phased array ultrasonic testing, to pinpoint defect locations and guide repairs.

Compliance with Inspection Standards

  • Ensure all incoming and NDT inspections comply with relevant standards, including ISO 9001 and IEC 61400-5.
  • Maintain up-to-date inspection protocols that reflect the latest advancements in NDT technology and blade manufacturing requirements.

Documentation and Quality Records Management

  • Maintain comprehensive records of all incoming and NDT inspections, including test results, defect reports, and corrective actions.
  • Ensure that all documentation is accurate and available for quality audits and customer reviews.

Team Leadership and Training

  • Supervise QA engineers and inspectors conducting incoming and NDT inspections, providing technical guidance and ensuring adherence to protocols.
  • Conduct training on NDT techniques and material inspection standards, enhancing the team's expertise in blade QA.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Work closely with suppliers, production, and design teams to address quality issues identified during incoming and NDT inspections.
  • Lead quality reviews and collaborate on process improvements to enhance the overall quality of blade components.

Educational Background:
