Job Title: CBAM Data Analyst
Department: Commercial
Location: At any of our UK sites
Salary: £33,000-£37,000 plus Benefits
Closing Date: Sunday 8th March 2026
Interviews: W/C 16th March 2026
We believe that our strength is not just in our steel but the diversity of our workforce. Our people make the difference.
Are you a data professional who wants their work to influence real commercial outcomes?
The EU Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM) introduces strict emissions reporting requirements that will directly affect our ability to trade into EU markets.
We are seeking a Data Analyst to take ownership of CBAM-related emissions data across Tata Steel UK.
What you will do
This is not a standard reporting role. The accuracy of your work will help protect the business from financial penalties and ensure we remain eligible to export into Europe. You will be responsible for collecting, validating and reporting emissions data across multiple sites and systems.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Gathering emissions and production data from across the organisation
- Validating data to ensure it meets evolving EU and UK regulatory requirements
- Building and maintaining robust audit trails for external verification
- Processing large datasets to calculate carbon intensity and prepare reports
- Producing customer-specific data files to support their CBAM declarations
- Identifying data gaps and leading corrective actions
- Working with IT to improve traceability and automate data processes
- Supporting scenario modelling to understand financial and commercial impacts
You will also act as the internal subject matter expert on CBAM data requirements and help educate colleagues where needed. The quality of your analysis will directly support customer confidence and regulatory compliance in 2027 and beyond.
What you will need
You will have strong analytical capability and experience managing large, complex datasets.
You will bring:
- Advanced Excel skills and strong data validation experience
- Experience using BI or analytics tools
- High attention to detail and a structured approach to quality control
- The ability to understand and apply technical regulatory requirements
- Confidence explaining data clearly to non-technical stakeholders
Experience in sustainability reporting, emissions data, regulatory reporting or financial data environments would be advantageous.
