Job Summary:  The Chief Clinical Officer (CCO) provides executive leadership and strategic oversight of clinical and ancillary service lines including Medical Imaging, Rehabilitation, Laboratory Services, Clinic Operations, Pharmacy, and Residential Care, to ensure the delivery of high-quality, safe, compliant, and patient-centered care. The CCO is responsible for developing, implementing, and monitoring clinical strategies, policies, and performance initiatives that align with organizational goals, regulatory requirements, and community healthcare needs.

The CCO partners closely with executive leadership, medical staff, and clinical leaders to foster a culture of collaboration, accountability, innovation, and continuous improvement across all clinical service lines.

 

Essential Job Functions:

  • Minimum Education:

    Bachelor’s degree in nursing, medicine, healthcare administration or related healthcare field

    Required Licensure / Certifications:

    Licensed healthcare professional (e.g., RN, MD,DO, PA, NP, or other applicable clinical licensures).

    Required Experience:

    Minimum of seven (7) years of progressive clinical leadership experience within an acute care hospital or healthcare system.

    Demonstrated experience overseeing clinical operations, ancillary services, and interdisciplinary teams.

    Proven ability to work collaboratively with physicians, clinical leaders, executive leadership, and governing bodies.

    Preferred Qualifications:

    Master’s degree in healthcare administration, Nursing, Business Administration, or related field.

    Experience in a rural hospital or public hospital district environment.

    Familiarity with unionized healthcare environments.

 

Education Background and Experience Requirements

  • Serve as a member of the Executive Leadership Team, contributing to organizational strategy and decision-making
  • Provide executive oversight and direction for Medical Imaging, Rehabilitation, Laboratory Services, Clinic Operations, Pharmacy, and Residential Care operations
  • Align clinical operations with the organization’s mission, vision, values, and strategic plan
  • Prepare and present clinical reports and recommendations to executive leadership and governing authorities
  • Represent the organization in professional, community, and regional forums as appropriate
  • Foster a culture of engagement, professional development, and interdisciplinary collaboration
  • Identify opportunities for service expansion, innovation, and improvement based on community needs, regulatory trends, and best practices
  • Provide oversight of assigned clinical and ancillary service lines
  • Ensure effective integration and coordination of services across the care continuum
  • Monitor access, throughput, productivity, and operational performance
  • Provide quality, safety, and outcome metrics to executive leadership and governing authorities
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable federal, state, and accrediting body requirements (e.g., CMS, DOH, DNV, CLIA, Board of Pharmacy, long-term care regulations).
  • Lead and support quality improvement, patient safety, and performance improvement initiatives
  • Monitor and report clinical quality, safety, and outcome metrics

Compensation/How We Care For You:

Successful candidates typically begin between the beginning and midpoint of the compensation range dependent on qualifications/experience and receive compensation in increments increases annually.
