Bald Mountain is an open-pit mine with a large estimated mineral resource in the largest private mining land package in the U.S. The mine is located in White Pine County, one of the best mining jurisdictions in the world, along the southern extension of the prolific Carlin trend. Bald Mountain and the nearby Round Mountain mine make up Kinross’ Nevada operations.
Bald Mountain is an important contributor to the economy of northeastern Nevada and maintains a comprehensive environmental strategy including wildlife protection, habitat recovery and education.
Job Description
The Project Administrative Assistant tracks department budgets and expenditures, maintains a positive working relationship with other departments, contractors, and vendors. This role is responsible for managing all accounts receivable (AR) aspects of projects from start up to completion. Review and send out invoices to Project managers for review and approvals. Set up project meetings when needed.
- This position is assigned to work at the Kinross Nevada office located in Elko, Nevada, with site visits to Round Mountain and Bald Mountain as job needs arise.
- The schedule for this position is Monday - Thursday with 10-hour days.
Job Responsibilities
1. Tracks projects obligations, assists third parties performing corporate auditing of “Project Management Standards and Procedures North America” and identifies opportunities for improvement.
2. Coordinate meetings and assist all relevant stakeholders in developing project scopes and objectives.
3. Leads effort to improve Projects Department document management.
4. Process invoices and track capital costs. Provide detailed reports of actual versus budgeted/forecast costs in Monthly meetings to HOD’s and Managers.
5. Verifies Projects Department compliance with the “Project Management Standards and Procedures North America”.
6. Tracks and monitors Kinross Bald Mountain Projects drive for organization and accuracy.
7. Works directly with AP, management, and established contractors/vendors to submit, process, track, and ensure timely payment of invoices.
8. Initiate vendor set up process, including compliance requirements, in JDE.
9. Establishes and maintains business relationship with available contractor base.
10. Work with Stakeholders and Supply Chain on award to successful bidders.
11. Works with the Supply Chain and submits all relevant documentation for the RFP package for projects through JDE. Work with Supply chain to ensure all contracts are approved and in place prior to the initiation of work.
12. Report to the Project Superintendent when costs are at risk and submit all documentation for approvals of these changes before work is initiated.
13. Compliance with all company policies and procedures including, but not limited to safety, environmental, confidentiality and code of conduct.
14. Meets or exceeds established performance expectations set by management.
15. Consistently exercises discretion and judgment in job performance.
16. Works without risk or harm to self and others.
17. Punctuality and regular attendance required, working from the KBM town office.
18. Performs other related functions as assigned by Project Superintendent.
Education and Experience
1. High School diploma or equivalent experience required.
2. Ability to function within the qualifications outlined in the attached physical demands sheets.
3. Working knowledge of projects KPIs and corporate requirements to effectively monitor for completion and deviations.
4. Knowledge and utilization of computers, spreadsheets, JDE, MS Office, and presentation software.
5. Basic knowledge of procurement processes and procedures.
6. Basic knowledge of effective document management and control processes.
7. Must be self-directed, organized and innovative.
8. Effective in positively representing Kinross in interactions with visiting VIPs, government officials and other key external stakeholders.
9. Able to present results of analysis in a clear and understandable manner.
10. Experience in financial and projects program administration preferred but not required.
11. Possesses good communication and interpersonal skills.
12. General understanding of mining operations, as well as limited understanding of maintenance operations.
13. Strong verbal, written, analytical and persuasive skills and the ability to interact effectively with all levels of employees and management.
14. Ability to work independently.
15. Demonstrates strong administrative, organizational and technical writing skills
16. Must be 18 years old and presently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis.
17. Requires valid driver’s license.
18. Some overtime may be necessary to meet project deadlines.

Reports to the Kinross Nevada Projects Superintendent.
