About the role
We are seeking skilled and safety‑focused Mechanical Fitters to support maintenance, and project works across an Alumina Smelter. You will be responsible for performing mechanical repairs, inspections, and preventative maintenance on fixed plant equipment to ensure safe, reliable and efficient operational performance.
Working as part of a multidisciplinary team, you will carry out breakdown support, planned maintenance, shutdown activities and equipment upgrades across critical processing assets.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform mechanical maintenance, repairs and fault‑finding on fixed plant equipment.
- Conduct inspections, lubrication, alignment, replacement of components and general servicing.
- Support shutdowns, project works and preventative maintenance programs.
- Work safely in operational processing environments following all permits and procedures.
- Diagnose mechanical issues and recommend corrective actions to minimise downtime.
- Collaborate with supervisors, trades and operations teams to maintain plant reliability.
- Ensure all work is completed to quality, safety and compliance standards.
About you
- Trade‑qualified Mechanical Fitter or equivalent.
- Experience in mining, minerals processing, bauxite/alumina, or heavy industrial environments.
- Strong technical ability across pumps, conveyors, gearboxes, crushers, hydraulic systems and rotating equipment.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, specifications and work instructions.
- Strong commitment to safety, teamwork and delivering high‑quality workmanship.
- Ability to work in a fast‑paced operational plant environment with competing priorities.
- Tickets such as Working at Heights, Confined Space or EWP are advantageous.
