Overview
The Reporting Analyst – ERCOT Market is responsible for producing accurate, timely, and insightful reporting that supports financial, operational, and market decision-making for the Texas retail electricity business. The role focuses on analyzing ERCOT market data, retail performance metrics, and financial reporting outputs to drive transparency, compliance, and profitability.
The successful candidate will work closely with Trading Operations, Settlements, Finance, and Risk teams to ensure all internal and external reports meet regulatory requirements and internal business needs.
In this role, you will be involved with the following:
Market Reporting & Analysis
Compile, validate, and analyze ERCOT market data (load, pricing, congestion, settlement statements).
Support daily, weekly, and monthly reporting on ERCOT positions, retail margins, usage variances, and losses.
Develop dashboards and metrics to monitor key business drivers such as forecast accuracy, energy cost recovery, and customer profitability.
Interpret ERCOT protocols, settlement charge types, and reporting timelines to ensure accurate representation in reports.
Financial & Operational Reporting
Assist in producing monthly management reports for ERCOT retail operations, including P&L performance, cost of goods sold, and risk metrics.
Reconcile market data to internal systems (e.g., Hitachi, Quickbooks/Workday, PowerBI, CRM, or billing platforms).
Support variance analysis between forecast vs. actual revenue and power costs.
Maintain documentation of reporting methodologies and data sources for audit and control purposes.
To be successful in this role, you are likely to have the following skills/experience:
Bachelor’s degree in finance, Accounting, Economics, Data Analytics, Engineering, or related field required.
5+ years of experience in energy, retail electricity, or ERCOT market reporting.
Proven expertise managing, evaluating, analyzing data quickly and creating meaningful business reporting.
Strong understanding of ERCOT protocols, market settlements, charge types, and data interfaces.
Experience working with large data sets and cross-functional reporting in the Texas electricity market.
Driven self-starter committed to success while working under tight time constraints and pressure.
Strong interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills with the ability to work collaboratively with people across the wider business and at all levels of the business.
Exhibit excellent professional ethics and business acumen.
Advanced with MS Excel, power point and other Microsoft office suite functions.
