Tax- Transactional Tax Intern

What You Can Expect

As our Tax- Transactional Tax Intern, you will be involved in reviewing tax transactions related to the utility (retail power/gas) markets, including Sales/Use, Gross Receipts, and Utility User Tax.

The hybrid schedule will be based at our Houston, TX office, and you will report directly to the Tax manager.  The internship work term will be June 1, 2026 to August 21, 2026, full-time 40 hours per week minimum.

 

You will support the Transactional Tax team in topics such as:

• Transaction analysis, general ledger review
• Commercial implications as it relates to exemptions
• Risk allocation
• Tax research pertaining to contracts and taxing jurisdiction
• Assist in preparation of journal entries and tax filings

 

 

 

What You’ll Bring

• You are an undergraduate or graduate student pursuing a degree in one of the following fields: Tax, Accounting or Finance
• An understanding of basic accounting principles: journal entries, debits/credits, account reconciliation and general ledger
• Working experience in EXCEL
• Analytical skills and demonstrated expertise in developing and utilizing detailed excel files

 

Additional Details

• You are an undergraduate or graduate student pursuing a degree in one of the following fields: Tax, Accounting or Finance
• This role is eligible for 3 to 4 days in office only; Hybrid
• Must be willing and able to comply with all ENGIE ethics and safety policies
• Working experience in EXCEL
• Outstanding analytical skills and demonstrated expertise in developing and utilizing detailed excel files

 

 

Compensation

Hourly Range: $24.50 to $33.50 USD hourly

 

This represents the average expected pay range for a qualified candidate.

 

Actual offered salary may depend on geography, experience, industry knowledge, education, internal pay alignment, or other bona fide factors.
