The opportunity
As a Software Developer, you will analyze, design, develop, and support software solutions to help Ontario Teachers' Pension Plan meet its business objectives. You will contribute your technical knowledge to complex and interesting IT projects for our Total Fund Management division. The team is responsible for building and supporting Portfolio Management and Trade Analytic solutions. What we do has an impact on helping the teachers of Ontario feel secure in having a financially safe retirement.
Who you'll work with
You will be joining a team of passionate and experienced software developers who work closely with Total Fund Management investment professionals to build and support solutions in support of OTPP’s Investment plan.
What you'll do
With guidance and support, complete well-designed systems of high quality that make appropriate use of technology.
Develop personal plans and the task detail appropriate for completion of an acceptable volume of work and for the communication of status
Responsible for maintaining currency in technological trends and directions; continually upgrading personal, technical, and IT related skills through research, education and self‑motivated technology experimentation.
Participate in and contribute to the investigation of new technology and contribute to recommendations for adoption where appropriate
Opportunities to take ownership of significant components of software development projects under the guidance and direction of a development lead and/or an engineering manager
Provide operational support for existing systems with a view to optimizing/automating existing processes
Collaborate with business partner, understand business use case, propose technical solution support business needs.
Utilize Software Development and Data Engineering best practices to drive business process optimization within the Total Fund Management organization.
What you'll need
Some business understanding of Capital Markets, particularly with respect to portfolio management and capital allocation
Computer Science or Engineering degree or equivalent work experience.
Strong knowledge of current information systems theories, concepts, and techniques.
Excellent organizational, analytical and problem-solving skills.
Ability to communicate and interact effectively with end users who are not technical.
Minimum of 3 years of professional software development experience
Knowledge of data modelling for development of transactional as well as reporting/ data analytics systems.
Experience building and testing ETL processes and Data Pipelines
Experience with the following technologies: Python, C#, SQL, MS Power BI, Oracle, SQL Server, Snowflake.
Experience with Web Development frameworks (React, Angular)
Practical experience with Continuous Delivery tools / practices (e.g. GitHub, Jenkins).
Experience in various software development methodologies and agile development practices; Test Automation, Test Driven Development, Continuous Delivery
Experience with Azure Cloud Services, particularly Azure Compute Services (AKS, Container App Services, etc.)
Experience with Container technologies (ex. Docker) and Container deployment and management best practices
Experience working with Financial data providers (ex. Bloomberg, FactSet, Refinitiv) is a nice to have
Experience utilizing AI tools and solutions to optimize development and delivery processes is a nice to have.

What we’re offering
This position is eligible for base salary and annual incentive based on individual and enterprise performance. Base Salary starting at $100,300 to $107,200 with future opportunity of up to $116,400.Numerous opportunities for professional growth and development
