About the Role  

   

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Lead Structural Engineer to join our team. This role is integral in supporting the field sales team by answering technical questions related to our products and system applications. The Lead Structural Engineer will ensure the completeness and accuracy of all technical information provided across various platforms and assist in the development of innovative structural solutions. This position also involves reviewing structural calculation packages, collaborating with internal and external teams, and contributing to the optimization of existing designs. 

 

What You’ll Do 

 

  • Technical Documentation: Ensure technical accuracy and completeness of all product information, including datasheets, CAD/BIM details, architectural specifications, installation guides, maintenance guides, and certified test reports. 
  • Design Packages & Structural Calculations: Prepare design packages with structural calculations for proposed structural HAC systems as needed, ensuring compliance with applicable codes and regulations. 
  • Review of Third-Party Structural Calculations: Conduct technical reviews of structural calculation packages submitted by third-party engineers to verify compliance with building codes and project specifications. 
  • Seismic Calculator Maintenance: Maintain and ensure the seismic calculator’s accuracy and completeness. 
  • Collaboration: Work closely with end users, engineers, architects, general contractors (GCs), in-house design teams, regional sales managers (RSMs), project managers (PMs), third-party engineers, and the manufacturing team to deliver high-quality, cost-effective solutions. 
  • Innovative Structural Systems: Use core structural knowledge to design new systems or adapt existing ones when current systems are not suitable. 
  • Product Development Support: Collaborate with the product development teams to create new parts or components and optimize current designs to create lighter, more efficient systems where possible. 
  • Seismic Inquiries Support: Provide expertise and support for RAF seismic inquiries and ensure all relevant inquiries are handled promptly. 
  • Technical Reports: Prepare and provide technical memoranda/reports summarizing design considerations, requirements, and project-specific technical letters. 
  • Compliance Awareness: Ensure adherence to quality, safety, environmental, and product compliance policies; report quality issues, unsafe acts, and unsafe conditions to appropriate personnel. 

 

Additional Expectations 

 

  • Remain compliant with the Code of Conduct and Policies which includes the Kingspan Group Compliance Policy. 
  • Ensure that all duties related to product compliance are adhered to in accordance with the Product Compliance Policy, Laws, Regulations, and market demands. 
  • Responsible for all tasks to achieve compliance goals and demands of the Compliance Management System. 
  • Must raise concerns related to the Compliance Management System to their supervisor, manager, or any member of the Leadership Team, or through the confidential whistle blower service. 

 

What You’ll Bring 

 

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in civil/Structural Engineering from an ABET-accredited institution (MS degree preferred). 
  • Licensing: Professional Engineer (PE) License in Structural Engineering. 
  • Experience: 5+ years of experience in structural design for industrial and commercial buildings, including mission-critical structures. 
  • Knowledge: In-depth familiarity with current building codes, regulations, and standards such as IBC, ASCE, ACI, and others. 
  • Structural Systems Expertise: Proven experience in value engineering and design of structural HAC frame systems attached to floors and slabs. 
  • Technical Tools Proficiency: Proficient in using structural design software and tools. 
  • Additional Experience: Experience with the design and review of non-structural components and non-building structures, as well as competitive product evaluation, customer service, sales, or project management experience is a plus. 
  • Manufacturing and Materials Knowledge: Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, materials, and quality control protocols. 
  • Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders. 
  • Technology Proficiency: Proficient in Microsoft Office 365 (Word, Excel, Teams, etc.) and familiar with related computer technologies. 
  • Project Management Skills: Ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment, with strong attention to detail and prioritization skills.
